Someone told me that the reason why east coast style pizza tastes great is because of the water and they have the dough flown in...in fact many people told me that.....ok. whatever. Ciro's is good. Once in awhile I order pizza for delivery to my downtown home and it's a home run. As for the water...ok. sure.

It's cheap and the pizza is awesome.

HANDS DOWN the BEST pizzeria in San Diego's Gaslamp!! I LOVE being able to watch my pizza being made while enjoying some local craft brews. That said, I cannot mention emphatically enough how AMAZING their stromboli is - hands down the BEST I've ever enjoyed!! Seriously, check this place out - you will NOT be disappointed!! PS They even have really good salads - my favorite being the arugula salad - and desserts!

My friends and I were downtown on a random Wednesday night with empty stomachs, so we wanted to eat before we bar hopped. Luckily for us, it was open til 3AM (Weds-Sat). It's similar to that of Bronx where they have pizza already out, then they re-heat it in the oven. There are similar flavors and overall they seem like sibling restaurants, but I still like Bronx better. The slices here a little more expensive--$3.50. I like the vibe of the place. They played a lot of old school hip hop and underground music, which was really cool. The cashier was ehh, but other than her, this place was alright!

Okay, YUM. I got the Mai Pie (spelling?) and it was delicious. White sauce, pepperoni, pesto, and ricotta. The pizza itself was very large, thin crust. Better than Basic and Mountain Mikes. I do wish the pizza had more crunch though, maybe some peppers or something. So happy to find a pizza place I like! They sell by the slice too, and have a bunch of weekly specials. Now let's talk about the customer service. ON POINT. They were very welcoming and answered all of my questions, and we're joking around with me, super nice guys. They have a bunch of beers on tap too if you're in to that. Place is very clean as well.

Stopped by after partying at Bang Bang. I was drunk and, from what I remember, the pizza was pretty good. LOL. That's all I can say about that. I'm just surprised I actually 'Checked In' on Yelp. hahahahaha

So another recent review begins with "...it was a drunken night and we stumbled in". And she gives this place, MY FAVORITE downtown pizza spot, 2 stars. Are we to trust that judgment? I've been coming here for years with groups of friends, usually after an evening at Side Bar or Omnia, and have always been treated well- AND served a piping hot and freshly made slice. I'm from Boston- And trust me, Boston (and yes, NY) pizza is light years ahead of most of the cardboard and ketchup jobs you get out here in California. But there are exceptions. Bronx is one of them. But they're a bit out of the way from downtown. So Ciro's it is. Good, light and crispy crust (but not crunchy) and an excellent quality of cheese. Not dry, but not too greasy. Sauce is basic but good, and you can't go wrong with most of the toppings. Make sure to try the pesto pie- It's aces. The basic pepperoni is pretty strong too, and my wife loves the BBQ chicken pie. Whatever your choice, it will be heated up for you, to piping hot, in a minute or two (never a long wait, even with mobs of drunks passing out on the counter), and you're guaranteed to have a nice place to go enjoy your newly gotten treat in peace- They've really worked hard on the appearance of this place, with great seating and a new bar that looks great. Great job, Ciro's- You guys are doing it right!

Small little pizza place tucked in next to a nightclub and other businesses along Market Street. What caught our eye was the neon sign saying "Pizza by the Slice". Turned out to be a great joint with excellent pizza and a full bar! We sat at the bar by the window and enjoyed a slice or two and people watched. A beer for my sweetie and a cocktail for myself.... actually a couple of them. Pizza was some of the best I've had in San Diego, really fantastic! I also tried the garlic knots and those hit the spot too. It's a really laid back place and the service mirrored. As we sat people watching and talking, along the bar at the front window, we noticed that there was a constant stream of people picking up pizzas and/or other food plus the delivery guys were keeping busy. This place was like an ant maze, it was bustling! Yet, still remained cool and chill in it's atmosphere. 100% enjoyable experience. Wait, maybe 99.99% enjoyable, only 1 bathroom and it's unisex.... if you need to go, go before you really have to. I had to wait and was hard not to do "the dance" when the only place to wait is seen by all. But that was the only non-positive part of our visit. Great choice for a place to eat... dine in, take out or delivery! CHEERS!!!

This place is really cool if your into pizza and beer. I think the pizzas are small here for the price that you pay but them again it's located in downtown! Pizza is fair here I know they can do better, they juts have to play with their ingredients a little more.

I ordered delivery from here a few weeks ago after what some may call..... a night on the town.......needless to say we were home and hungry or some greasy deliciousness and were not "fit" to drive anywhere. #dontdrinkanddrive We called up Ciro's because it's a few blocks away and had heard good things in the past. I probably called around 11:00 (Yes we were home by 11:00 on our night out, I'm a twenty-five year old freakin grandma). The woman on the phone was super friendly, and even though it was extremely loud on the other end (all the other grandmas & grandpas getting their food before they head home at 11:00 on a Saturaday) she was very patient and careful in making sure she got all of my information correct as far as my order, credit card number, etc. went. I tried to order several single slices but *TIP* was informed you can't order slices for delivery. That wasn't a big deal as we decided to just order a large pizza instead. We ordered a large pepperoni and sausage pizza and I provided our address and phone number. She told me it would be about 45 minutes for the delivery. The pizza arrived almost exactly 45 minutes later. I live in a gated complex and the Ciro's delivery guy called from outside right where I had given directions for him to go and the hand off was super easy! The pizza was awesome! There was tons of meat, it was nice and greasy, large and the crust had the perfect crunch. We liked the pizza so much that we almost went back a few nights ago for a regular human dinner at 6:00, but ended up deciding to just eat at home because we are lame. Anyways, my point with this is even though it was ordered originally as a late night treat, I wouldn't hesitate in stopping in for lunch and dinner on any given day! I definitely recommend giving it a try for any situation.

Great pizza, but 2 stars for the shitty service. Don't get me wrong, I would be grumpy too if I were serving hundreds of drunk people at 2am, but that's no excuse to be overtly rude. Let's talk about pizza. My buddy and I got 2 slices each of the combo and sausage and it was pretty good. The crust was nice and thin and the sauce to cheese ratio was on point. Not as good as my boys at Bronx, but damn good. Will I come back? Unfortunately yes, because the pizza is worth the crap service. Too bad I gotta knock me down a notch :( *Be nice.

Awesome pizza! Reminded me of the nyc pizza I still crave after years of nyc life. Got the cheese slice, so good. It was crowded with a line out the door after the bars closed but they were fast with the service and we found a table in the back. The dining area was clean and large with t.v.s all tables can see which I thought was cool. My employer orders pizza for the staff from here often so I can tell you from eating plenty of pizza slices, it's good and worth a stop sober or not, but Esp not....;)

I've had better pizza. It was a drunken night that we stumbled in. The young lady at the register was obviously tired of dealing with the inebriated crowd. When I came to the front, you could hear the tension in her tone. Upon checking in, (because Yelp! Is on my mind, even after a few cocktails.) I received a notification for free garlic knots. I showed the young lady and she said "No. We don't accept coupons" I said again "But it says..." and once again I received "NO! Those don't work here!" Ok. I let it go. Sad. But I let it go. Don't have deals online if you're not going to accept them. The slices were large. The flavor told me that they had been sitting there for a good while. But that didn't matter to me. I like pizza. X that. I LOVE pizza. For a drunk night, yeah. I'll deal. I'll be back. It's like $3 a slice or something. I just got my drunk feelings hurt. Environment: It has a good amount of seating. Indoor, outdoor, large tables to share, bar stools by the wall. The lighting was dim from what I remember. Nothing fancy. Great people watching though if you can keep it together yourself.

Only good after a night of drinking, dancing & walking 3miles to get a slice of pizza in DT. I was a little disappointed when we checked in. It says free French bread when you check in, my friend showed the employee and she says "we're not on yelp anymore" I'm like really b*tch? Then why have this add? She could have been lying since majority of the customers were drunk and she probably was ready to go home and didn't care. Anywho not a big deal, just sayin. It's false ad that's all. I ordered the pepperoni and Hawaiian pizza or maybe it was the margarita. Whatever it was it was good cz I was super hungry!!! Pizza is always good. You can never go wrong with pizza. The girls working this night were still helpful even though my friend couldn't get her free French twist bread thing.

Still a 3-star in my book, but a solid one at least! Ciro's is like the lunch stop for at least one day every year we attend SDCC. It's one of the few places that has a cheap bite to eat! Plus, the pizza isn't that bad at all. I like me some thin crust pie. After a long day of walking what seems like 5 football fields, standing in lines longer than Disneyland, and spending 3 times what I wanted to on a Walking Dead figure...it's nice to sit down for a bit and unwind with a slice. Trust me, after a day at the con, almost any non-convention center food is delicious. At least at Ciro's it's pretty darn good! Thankfully, Ciro's still does a 2-slice and soda special for lunch. Even for SDCC! So it comes out to around $8 for any 2 slices in the case and a soda (which thankfully, is Coca-Cola related). On a good note, at least carrying 2 slices of pizza is lighter than carrying a near 3-foot tall Star Wars Shadowtrooper figure through crowds. The key to getting a better slice of pie at Ciro's? Either order a fresh one, or luck out on a fresh one going into the case! Really. Ciro's is one of those reheat pizza places, you know, for quick service you look at what's in the case, pick your slices, gets thrown back in the over for a quick warming, then on to you for consumption. I know some of you don't like this because it ruins the integrity of the pizza. Yes, older slices being reheated will probably turn them into chewy, hot cardboard that's not so pleasing to the mouth. So, unless it's a certain flavor of slice you just have to have, go for what's newest in the case! The quick reheat will make those slices still thin & crispy, and the cheese still gooey. My faves at Ciro's are either their BBQ Chicken Pizza, Buffalo Chicken Pizza, or anything they have with blobs of ricotta cheese on it. Fortunately I've lucked out each time with getting at least ONE of these slices each time I've ordered. Shake on some granulated garlic, oregano, red pepper, and parmesan cheese...lunch is served! Washed down with some much deserved Diet Coke. Or a beer if you're really inclined. Pizza has improved from the last year I was here, dough was still nice and thin but crispier, toppings were more plentiful, as well as a nicer dose of cheese. Sauce was much more flavorful, and the ratios were better between sauce and crust. The service was great this time around, quick and courteous. Even told the guys we come to Ciro's every year when we go to SDCC, and we were welcomed back! Ciro's, see you next year if we're back at SDCC! Save me a fresh slice!

Drunk munchies from a good night of downtown drinking. The pizza wasn't all that great, but being drunk I thought it did a decent job with my drunk munchies. We came here around midnight and they didn't have pepperoni! Also, they did not honor the yelp check in for some free garlic knots... it's not that hard to take it off your yelp check in, and the girl working the counter was a bit rude. I guess I don't have her to blame if she's always getting drunk people all night long. I would be so annoyed as well. Management did message me about my experience... So at least they do care. Maybe I'll test it out again.

Worst experience on March 4th @ 12:15pm. By the manager closing out his register. Not friendly & obviously over worked to be in such a bad mood serving slices. Come on bro your job isn't that tough, you could be digging ditches. Smh.

Spent the weekend in San Diego and as we were walking around we came came across this awesome place! I haven't had good pizza like this in a while. I got the 2 slices and a beer for $10 deal (awesome). I had the spinach ricotta and "the big sexy" so good I went back for 2 more slices lol. Cool spot, great pizza, check it out!

  • Victoria V.

Very good pizza & customer service! I love going there to get the buffalo chicken pizza. The pizza slices are a good size nice and heated for you. The garlic bread buns are addicting so watch out. It's open late so when you get out of the club next door your taste buds are satisfied without having to look for a place to eat.

  • Van V.

The place to go after the bars and clubs on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night! Pizza tastes so good! Either i'm too twirly or it's really that good! I love anything with green sauce or ricotta cheese, yumm! Did I mention, you're going to run into everybody here. So if you were running away from someone all night, i'm sure you'll run into them here! So just be prepared! Ex bfs and ex gfs? Say hi!

I want to like this place more than 3 stars, but it's just sorta okay. Whereas the PB location of Ciro's is bustling, this place is pretty empty, so downtowners have somehow decided this is not a hip place to stop and have a drink. The other week my dining companion and I wanted a beer (and a fun vibe) so we walked in but then right out because it was just dead empty on a Wednesday night even though other nearby spots were busy. I returned two Sundays ago around 5pm with another dining companion, and the experience was good but not great. Place was pretty empty, except for the occasional worker who would wander in from Side Bar next door. The only good thing was they had a $9 deal for two slices and a beer on tap, which made the visit alone worth it. But I advise to make sure your slices come up hot -- half our slices were tepid, and the hot ones were much better. We ordered Margherita and Hawaiian slices, and initially they brought out only three slices but then noticed we were missing a fourth. We took advantage of the Yelp check-in offer for garlic knots, and they forgot to bring them out, so I had to go to the counter and inquire after we waited a while. They were cold in the middle but came with a robust tomato dipping sauce. I might return, but would definitely make sure the food is hot (and send it back if it isn't), but I'm more likely to just try a different pizza place instead when I feel like a slice.

Great thin crust pizza, my favorite in downtown. Great location too. They also have great food specials throughout the week. Spacious seating with a bar in the back. Only reason it got four instead of five stars is the staff is a little subpar. Not that knowledgeable and can be rude sometimes.

    (4)
  • James M.

The employees here discriminate against customers. They also deny service just because they don't feel like providing service in the last hour before closing. Very rude too. The pizza itself is good though.

  • Katina K.

Love this spot. Whether its for lunch or late night after the bars Ciro's is always a good option. Their garlic knots are a MUST have!! They always are making new pizzas and bring them out so if you don't like the options ask what is coming up next, you may be in luck! They have a few beers on tap if you want to add some more calories to your pizza and garlic knot. Ciro's is fast, cheap, and tasty. There usually is room to sit somewhere int he back. Go on in and grab a late night snack!

  • Garrett Kaeo W.

Good place to stop for lunch to grab some quick slices of pie. The pizza is traditional thin crust, with a great variety of toppings. Nice little joint. Just isn't at my top for places to get pies, but it really won't disappoint either.

So I've been here twice. Had the same thing: Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms and peppers. Yummy! I was craving one and my friend took me bout a month ago and I scarfed it like any hungry girl would. Second time I went back took my time split an order of chicken things (crap I can't remember xactly what they are called) with my friend but both were yummy. My only lil complaint was that the Alt,oh my god becky, girl helping up wouldn't serve beer at 5:59. Tried again and 6:05 no dice even tho they start serving at 6pm. So being the thirsty girll i am went to the bar and asked the dude there to make me a lynchburg lemonade instead. He made his version of it. Again Yummy. So there girlie.. They have a full bar and beers so it's a win win. PS I will quit using the word yummy :-0

Great place for those drunk and hungry nights. Or even before you're about to get drunk. About $2.55 each pizza! $1 garlic knots OR like them on Facebook for two free knots! They only have about 6 different pizzas to choose from. They post that they have daily specials, but when we came here on new years eve, they didn't offer the daily specials or personal size pizzas which was LAME. Other than that, their pizza is pretty good. P.S. They also have a mini bar inside if you want to get some quick drinks too!

One of my Favorite pizza joint...possibly because after a night out downtown, this is the go to place & everything is just so delicious when you're a bit intoxicated, right? lol On a serious note, I do like this place and they really do have good pizza! The place is small but who cares, it's all about the Pizza and beer!

Perfect place to eat a pizza after going dance. The pizza is very good: very thin and tasty. I like stay outside eating my pizza and see the people at street. If it almost 1:30am the Ciro's will have a big line.. Stay there. It's going to be fast and delicious.

Solid 3.5 stars In lieu of going to karaokee, we decided to have a night in. Saturday night at 11:30pm, we called Ciro's and they delivered the pizza to our door. We ordered 3 large pizzas, and my favorite was the combo. They were thin slices, so they were delicious. I am not a fan of thick crust. Not the best pizza I ever had in my life, but pretty good for delivery!

I was unfortunately underwhelmed by this place. Stopped in on my way back to my hotel in the early evening hours to get some slices to go. There's really nothing special about the pizza. Was excited to see the big slices and thinner crust, disappointed that it burnt when they reheated it and that the slices just didn't have all that much flavor. It's pretty hard to mess up straight up cheese pizza, but I wouldn't recommend this place

    (2)
  • Linh N.

I enjoy their pizza but I think it is a little over-priced. There's a good balance between the cheese and sauce but that's a personal opinion. I don't like when the pizza is too cheesy. Generally, their pizzas are always crispy though, so even if there is more cheese than I like, it still tastes good to me.

Awesome pizza place that saved our night! My group and I were not having a great night in gaslamp as everywhere we went was packed and the Irish pub we just came from had the slowest service ever and that was just not the best start to our night. We were walking around and saw a sign for pizza and beer, we followed it and ended up at Ciro's. Thank you arrow sign, one of the best parts of the night was finding this place . Pizza is comparable to secret pizza in Las Vegas, $3.50 a slice but it's a huge slice. My boyfriend and I split a pizza with red onions and tomatoes. They are thin crust pizzas and it was really good. I love how crunchy the crust was and the pizza sauce was delicious, not too tomatoey and acidic. They had about 5-6 different pizzas including a buffalo chicken pizza and a white pizza. They have fireball shots for $5. We had to jump on that. Check in for your two free garlic knots, trust me on this, it's worth it. The garlic knots are delicious! They were soft and had a really good garlic flavor. Anthony and Celeste, the two that worked there were super nice and friendly and helped make our night even better. The place is not too big but it is roomy. They have a ton of seating and they were playing older hip hop and r&b songs that I have not heard in a while, think like Ja Rule, Ashanti, old school J-Lo, and my personal favorite 112- Dance with Me, everyone was clapping their hands to that song. The only downside is that they have a one bathroom stall, so you can imagine if it gets busy there is for sure going to be a line for the bathroom. Anyways, I will be back next time I am in gaslamp and in need of delicious food.

Four pieces of Pizza, two tequila shots, a pitcher of beer, all for $35. Plus, the girl behind the counter is amazing. This place rocks. I love thin crust pizza. Eat here. Love it.

Delicious, quick, and excellent location. Dining for 1 is sometimes difficult. This place serves everything from slices, to personal 10' pizzas, to xtra large. Prices are very reasonable (check out the nightly specials). This a a great place if you like your pizza think and crispy.

Love this little pizza place! First found out about it during Comic-Con 3 years ago while they had themed it out for Adventure Time. Loved it then and continued to love it ever since (though I wish they kept the AT decor). If you're wandering around the Gaslamp and you're low on cash from the Con or just looking to save a few bucks, then stop by for a combo - 2 slices and a fountain drink for $7! (June 2014) Slices are pretty sizeable and you'll be stuffed. If you check in you also get 2 free garlic knots which should be enough to fuel you through the rest of the day. They also have many different local beers to choose from, as well as daily specials. Great place for a quick, cheap bite.

My favorite go to pizza place in SD! Definitely try their BBQ chicken! Best New York style pizza in town. And definitely check out their Thursday happy hour ... Half off on their whole pies. You can't beat that!

  • Dave S.

Nothing special. The crust is nice and thin, without being too crisp. The sauce is bland. Kind of a college-town dive vibe to it, which could be a turn on for the late crowd, but for late lunch I'm not so keen on fruit flies checking out what's on my plate.

Had the Cheese Pizza.. The sauce was good. Pizza was nice and thin. Would go back for another slice.

Pizza is pretty good. If you happen to be passing by grab a slice and keep walking. The service is why I give this place a 1 star. With so many tasty pizza places to choose from I would pass on this place. The guy who was at the counter helping us was as friendly as a damp cloth unless you might know him . 2 girls walk in who knew him and he was all smiles and service. Blahhh blah , we will never go here again.

I have been going to this place for years and I thought it was about time to write them a good review. They staff is nice, food is great, and best of all they are open till at least 2am on weekends.

Ciro's is perfect for the hard working individual...like myself... who does not have a whole lot of time for lunch. It's quick, cheap and tasty. What more can you ask for? During lunch they're about 10 different slices you can choose from. For me I have a half hour break and love Ciro's for this. I get a slice and a drink for like 3 bucks. For the gal....or guy on the go this is the place.

  • Nico P.

The pizza is almost 5 stars to my standards. Best part is definitely the crust. I gave it 4 stars mostly because the guy I talk to on the phone every time I order for delivery could just be a little bit friendly, that's all.

  • Dani T.

Compared to most California pizza this place rocks! I am definitely a huge fan of traditional thin crust style pizza. This isn't the absolute best I have ever had but in a pathetic sea of Domino's and Pizza Hut, I would choose this in a second. You will get a little attitude in this joint so put a thick skin on, the pizza is worth it.

    (3)
  • Carlos M.

They totally cater to the late night drunk hungry crowd. First of all the pizza is not great but isn't terrible. Not worth 21 bucks tho. Way over priced! I would only go back if I'm drunk and walking down that specific street. I will not go out of my way to pick up a pizza here. San diego has much better pizza stops. In fact costco pizza is way better.

  • J.J. And Christine M.

Bronx will always be my #1 in my heart. Ciro's though has better flavor in their crust in my opinion. My favorite pizza here is there Margherita pizza + pepperoni. I definitely recommend this pie to anyone trying out Ciro's for the first time.

    (5)
  • Alvin B.

It gives you the slice(s) you want at the moment and does a good job of making you satisfied when you need to be. By the end of the night though after a few or many rounds, it progressively gets better though! Hahahaha. Beer goggles and taste bud goggles. It's all the same. Pizza is decent but you'll be happy in the end either way.

I like hot, cheesy, yummy, crispy, pizza. Not too thin too. When I get a craving this is definitely my fav. stop. Especially late night pizza. MMMmM! I like the art on the walls too, good conversation material.

Why is this place so good when you're drunk? Hah. The wonders of alcohol. I like this place cause they're open late at night. So when you need to get you're grub on after dancing and drinking, pizza is always good. Their pizzas are good. I like the chicken BBQ one the best. The only thing that sucks is it's cash only, but there's an ATM machine inside. And there's always a line here late at night, but the line goes by fast.

We brought Ciro's in for lunch during a meeting. We had 3 types of pizzas: cheese, supreme, and ranch chicken. I had the cheese and the ranch chicken, both very good. The ranch chicken wasn't all fancy like CPK, which was a good thing, since Ciro's maintained the "pizza" feel. The crust is thin, which is my preference as well. Why I gave it 3 stars (as opposed to 4-5 stars): - the pizza was a little greasier than I like - the crust wasn't as crispy as I like. I love to bend my piza in half, and this was perfect for it. However, I also want my pizza crust to be a bit more crispy (for texture), but it was pretty soft, making the pizza a gooey, soft, and chewy experience.

Hands down the best pizza I've ever had in my opinion. I come here every time I'm in the area which is only once every few months. There is a wide variety of pizza to choose from and they have plenty of craft beers. The last time I went they installed a small bar which is cool. The staff is very friendly and accommodated me very well. I love Ciros!

Crust, crust, crust is the weakness. I loved the service, the smell, the sauce was decent and the cheeze was covering the whole pie. I only wish something would be done to their crust. I rolled up here with my hungry vegetarian crew and was happy to see our pizza adorned with a beautiful array of veggies. I give them three cheers on the toppings but for God's sake please change the crust. I want to make note of the beautiful artwork and the amazingly old hip hop that was played. Good show. Thank you to the happy and attentive owner.

I wish I could review the food. Called for delivery on a Saturday night. Chose Ciros because it's only a 20 minute WALK from my apartment. They said it would be an hour. Alright. It's Saturday I understand. Went downstairs and waited outside of my apartment at the 50 minute mark. At the 1 hour 20 minute I called to ask what was wrong. They said the delivery guy locked his keys in his car and they had just sent out another one 5 minutes ago. Alright, I understand, stuff happens. Two hour mark. Still outside. Outside of my apartment. With money in my hand. Looking at every car go by. Waiting for my pizza. We call again. Spoke to the manager and he said someone DID come by but they were calling the number on file instead of the number we gave them when we ordered (my boyfriend lost his phone recently) and it would be ANOTHER hour. So... we'd have to wait a total of THREE HOURS because they hire incompetent people? Cancel. Wow I'm glad my one Saturday off from the restaurant that I work at turned out so well for me.

It's a nice little place with friendly service. They were busy tossing the dough while I was there which is always nice to see. They offer thin crust NY style and also a big puffy Sicilian style. I had a small (8 slices!) thin crust with peperoni, bacon, tomatoes and olives. It was tasty and done right. Moderate level of toppings, except I thought the olives were too few. About $25 for the pie and a drink. I'd say it is reliable and respectable, though not outstanding.

I really like this place. I've eaten here a lot lately and I don't even eat that much pizza! Downtown is lacking in good inexpensive pizza so this place is a welcome addition to the gaslamp. You can get a whole pizza for like $12 or $3 for a slice which is a really good deal. I love that the pizza is thin crust and not greasy- i can scarf like 4 pieces and not feel sick afterwards- what more can you want?! I love the regular cheese pizza but my friends and family have tried the other ones and really like them. Even my Dad who is super picky about pizza- he's Italian and from NY, and he LOVES this place. I took away one star because they have a $10 minimum to use credit cards and I never carry cash.

I went in and ordered a slice of their Margarita Pizza. "Decent" is the word that sums it up. it's worth going to, but not worth standing in a long line for. even if your mission was to find a good slice of pizza in downtown sd, there are other joints. but i'll give ciro credit where it's due-it beats eating pizza at horton plaza and is better if delivery just does not cut it for you. otherwise, venture elsewhere. **btw, they accept card but ONLY if you spend $10 and up.

"ny style", translation looks like it but doesn't taste like it. i don't know why we tried this place cause there's really only two places in SD to get NY pizza and that's Bronx and Long Island Mikes. from the first bite i knew we would wouldn't be back and i'll gladly drive to washinton st. or murphy canyon to get my pizza fix. how bad can it be? well, the cheese didn't taste and look right, the sauce was too sweet when it should be sweet and tangy and the crust wasn't even close to being "ny style", and supposedly they got the recipe from a family in queens. if so let me know where in queens and i'll have my family and friends check them out. it baffles me how much "ny" gets used out here in socal for food with the thought that it might attract more diners. its all because of ny being the food capital of the u.s. and owners assume anyone will think it has to be good if they have ny, bronx, brooklyn, queens or long island in their signage. i know i'm always wary of the so-called "ny style" places but i always find myslef trying it just to see if its really good. so to all the current and future restaurateurs if you use the acronym or boroughs for your place, at least make sure the food is good. in the case of Ciro's they're better off calling themselves just, Ciro's Pizza.

The pizza is great but I'm all about the service and cleanliness and that part blew! They guys working there are all very rude and gross. I watched one guy (didn't catch his name, no name tags) touch his face repeatedly then touch MY pizza! NASTY! Luckily there is one on University Ave. that is MUCH nicer and cleaner.

Best Pizza that I have had in a long time Ordered the white Ricotta and spinach pizza and it was to die for. Also tasted the Pepperoni and sausage pizza and it was great. They have Stella and Bud Light on Tap.

This is the best New York Pizza in San Diego!! My favorite is cheese & garlic, we always order a whole pie! It is so much better fresh, rather than by the slice and re-heated. I highly recommend this place.

Two thumbs way down. When we called to place the pick up order, they hung up on us twice. We should have stopped there. When they finally stayed on the phone they put us on hold repeatedly and asked the same questions every time they came back on the line. Then we go to pick it up and they had music playing so loud like it was some kind of club in the day time with all the lights on. So we couldn't hear the girl at the register and she couldn't hear us. I told her we were picking up an order that was phoned in but she started making a new order. She only realized we were picking up when I asked if I could add garlic knots to the order and she was like "On the top of the pizza?" We asked if the pizza was ready because is had been 30-40 minutes by then, she said not yet without even looking for it. We noticed a large pizza on top of the oven when we first got there and sure enough after 10 minutes of waiting that same large was our pizza the whole time. We would have waited longer if we didn't ask if it was ready yet which prompted the girl to look for it, against her will by the look on her face. And they did not start the garlic knots until they found our pizza which added to the wait. To add to the dissapointment the pizza itself was low quality all around. The sauce is gross and the crust is chewy :(

At $2.95 a slice, the pizza was what I expected and wanted. If you read my review of Nobu, down the street, I couldn't make a dinner out of a skimpy piece of yellowtail so a few hours after dinner at Nobu, my stomach convinced me to get 2 slices of Ciro's to hold me over. I was glad I did. If a club has any kind of restaurant attached to it, it's going to be a pizza joint. If not pizza, maybe pho. But it's always something completely random and totally unrelated to the club. So maybe by day, Ciro's is a family place or a work lunch spot. But at night, Ciro's is attached by the butt to some hip club in the Gaslamp. The pictures are nearly falling off the wall at the ear-throbbing vibration of the music. It does make you want to venture over there but then you realize you just ordered two really greasy slices of pizza. I think the loud music takes away from the service because you're telling the girl you want A SLICE OF CHEESE AND A SLICE OF MUSHROOM! but she just hears . Other than that, the pizza ain't bad.

After a long evening at Street Scene, LL decided she needed to some sustenance and stumbled into the lovely Ciro's. LL: Can I order a calzone? Cashier: No, we don't serve calzones this late. Dude at the Oven: WAIT, I'll make you a calzone! Don't listen to her! What do you want??? --Fifteen minutes later...-- Dude at the Oven: Hey! It's ready!! LL: WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? My calzone was an effing LARGE pizza folded in half which took multiple people to load into a to go bag. I shit you not, said calzone weighed no less than four pounds. Embarrassing to pick up, yes, but a DELIGHT to consume. Thank you to Ciro's for being accommodating and making such a tasty loaf of calzone. I will certainly be back in the coming weeks.

Despite seeing their low star reviews, my brother and husband insisted on trying it after haning out at Side Bar. It was surprisingly good! Loved the thin crust. It's worth a try if you like thin crust. Pizza is great after a fun and crazy night

I don't know why some people love this place. Perhaps it is because Ciro's has come through in the clutch when they have been drunk downtown, or because the crust is good I guess. Lets be realistic here people, Ciro's does not have good pizza, the service is sub par and the prices are too expensive...there is no way this place is worth the money. I have had two recent experiences here, first was when I tried to get 1 garlic ball (the deal was 3 for $3) and I told the person that I only wanted 1 and would pay her a dollar but she would not let me because it is 3 for 3 dollars period. Me: Well I don't know if you noticed that each garlic ball is worth a dollar, why can't I just buy 1? Groggy cashier: because that is the way it works here at Ciro's, you want 3 or not!? She had a real attitude and was in no way helpful, I turned around and bounced from that shit hole. More recently I went while I was at the Film Festival around the corner, yearning for food like a fat kid at diet camp. When I asked for 1 garlic ball this time they were okay with it (I wanted to have a word with the rude cashier from my previous experience), I was surprised and happy but wait!!! (my meal came out to be $3.50 1 slice of pizza and 1 garlic ball. I gave her a Lincoln and she was counting her ones) Cashier: Sorry we don't have 50 cents right now Me: That's okay, give me a dollar instead Cashier said nothing but gave me the bitchiest face I had seen for weeks as she handed me the 2 dollars instead of 1. I am sorry but it is not my fault that you don't have 2 fucking quarters in your register, deal with it, customer first! I ate that garlic ball and tasted it for a day, it was good and that is the only reason why I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1.

Thanks Ciro's! On a busy saturday night after a fun night out, you served me a cold mushroom pizza. I didn't care because I was half drunk and you could have served me shit on a stick and i would have eaten it. 3 hours later, I spent half the night in my bathroom expunging your foul food from both ends. You not only took 3 pounds off my weight, but saved me $100 that I would have spent on a colonic! Double thanks!

SAN DIEGO I have to laugh every time I see a pizzeria in San Diego advertising "NY Style" pizza. Believe me, the majority of places are one step above frozen pizza. Ciro's is probably the best in San Diego simply because they use fresh toppings and lots of garlic. The bread is California style and still tastes a bit doughy and airy than NY pizza. The slices are small so you can easily eat 3 slices. So while I can't really call it NY pizza, I still give it 3 stars. Cheers! N

It was like eating a piece of cardboard. Maybe a good idea would be to actually put something on the pizza. Go to Zia on Adams and find out what a real pizza is. Ciro's is only for serving drunk people that could care less.

The comments about poor service are true. I came in a little past midday on a Sunday - no people around except for me and my friends, yet the two guys working the cash register ignored our presence for a while. When they finally took our order, they did indeed have an unfriendly attitude as if we were being a pain. I got two slices of pizza and a beer for $8. Not a bad deal, and the pizza was not too horrible, but a fly flew into my beer so I went up to one of the guys at the register to get a new one. My cup was still full. I barely took a sip of it so it was pretty obvious that I was not trying to just drink up and get another one for free, but this guy argued that it was not there when he gave it to me and refused to pour me a new one. Then the guy who was making pizzas chimed in, "Just saying man, if I were you, I'd still drink it. It's just a fly." Well, MAN, I prefer my food and drinks insect free. To be fair, they did end up giving me a new beer after some persistence, but the second cup also had some black $h!t in it. I did not even bother to ask for a replacement this time because i did not want to argue anymore. Overall, the pizza is okay (not spectacular), but keep in mind that the employees think it is alright to have insects in your food/drinks because they supposedly would still eat it too. I am going to stay away from this place unless I am drunk enough to care as little about these employees' attitudes as they care about their customers, which I assume is the same case for most other patrons.

What a girl to do when she can't get her favorite slice joint on 53rd and 1/2 Spring St. in NYC? Well you try to find the next best thing. This isn't it by any means but it's much better than the alternate options in downtown San Diego. This review is based on threeexperience, one semi drunk, two completely sober. the two times i was physically there, there was an obvious long line around the block . Now this generally means two thing 1. a good sign of how deliciious the food is OR 2) popular tourist spot. In this case, It's both! My first time, I was semi-drunk and devoured myself in about 3 slices, plain and spinach. It was just the right temperature, the sauce had just the right amount of garlic to basil ratio. however; the crust could use a little bit of work. Second time, I was completely sober and enjoyed about 4 slices - yes I in my past life, I was in fact a pig. What I appreciate about this experience is, the taste was consistent to my previous experience. Thus, proving to me CIro's is not just a "drunk-food spot." Third time, I had to get it delivered because one I was talking to a friend back home who kept going on and on a recent pizzeria in my old college town. I can gladly say there delivery was efficient. They got my order right, they delivered in under 40 minutes, it was still hot when I got it. However $20 a pie, I am not sure if I am down with that. I think it's better to perhaps just go by the slice. Additionally, all though it's great that this place has deliver after 4pm till closing - there isn't an online menu available which is inconvenient. OVERALL: 3 Star Service: 2 star Food: 3 star Price: 1 star Decor: Not applicable in this case.

General - i was in san diego for the weekend for the dub show down there. and i needed a bite to eat before the monster dinner in a few hours. hence i drove around d/t san deezy and found this small pizza parlor. it was just a room with doors. nothing special, nothing fancy and nothing worth wasting 5 bucks over. i would have rather gone to taco bell and got a bunch of cheese rolls. Price - $2.50/slice $2.00 for a bottle 20oz soda $3.00 for a 2-liter soda Drinks - expensive soda. Food Quality - decent. nothing great but there wasn't ants on it. Food Portions - thin crust pizza. if you're hungry, go elsewhere! Food Taste - suckie Ambiance/Environment - a delivery/to-go pizza hut. i got the feeling i wasn't wanted in there. SERVICE - fast food style. don't expect much Overall - im never going back. don't use me as a reference. Pros - none Cons - let me just say... I DON'T WANT CARPUL TUNNEL

It's late; it's way past your curfew. Clubs are closing and bartenders are pouring water into your shot glasses as opposed to vodka. You're drenched in a mixture of sweat and cologne, and sobriety is a word too long for you to pronounce. Through your blurred vision and beer goggles, the only thing that shines like a beacon through a dark and stormy night is Ciro's Pizzeria. Timidly you crawl across the alcohol-splashed, puke-covered street. Onward you march because you know you will soon be rescued. Salvation is ever so near. Pizza. Hmmm pizza. Okay, I exaggerated. It's not that glorious but you gotta give them mad props for their strategic location and late-opening hours. Coupled with their mouth-watering and flavorful thin-crusted pizza, this place has soon become a hot spot for the ritual de-inebriation process. What a bargain--5 bucks even for two slices of pizza. So what if it is not New York pizza? Welcome to Sandy Eggo, California folks! You fold it and eat it New York style anyways. So get off your pedestal, drop all criticisms, and just eat that damn pizza.

No doubt the pizza is on point. Great for a quick slice for lunch, after hours etc. But order a Stromboli and it seems like you throw the earth off its axis at this joint. I was pretty disappointed about waiting 30 minutes! But alas, it was good. No one apologized for the ridiculous wait - and was actually quite rude about it. But damn it. It was really good. Till next time, Ciro's...till next time.

I'm not sure if this was my first visit to Ciro's ever but it's definitely my first visit since they moved one door over and renovated. I may have drunkenly stumbled into the old Ciro's before during one of the outings, but I don't recall. So anyhow, this is my first sober visit of the place ;-) This place has garlic knots, breadsticks, strombolis, thin crust and sicilian thick crust pizzas. Think they do a few other things, the menu font size was too small and was hurting my eyes so I was more fixated with the pizza by the slice display. I'm a HUGE (figuratively and literally, well not really) fan of thin crust pizza and haven't found a place that does it better than Bronx in SD (which reminds me, i still need to try Luigi's), and this place certainly doesn't measure up. I grabbed two slices @ 2.50 each, which is really reasonable. I had the spinach (ricotta, garlic, mozarella, spinach) and margarita (tomatoes, basil, garlic, mozarella). Both of which were just mediocre, I'm not sure if they were having an off night or the pizza tosser/maker was just not that experienced. But my spinach slice had a really uneven crust, almost like there was a gaping hole on one part of my slice. My margarita slice was sliced up 30-40% smaller than my spinach slice, which was rather irritating. The crust was also too doughy for my taste. On a side note, while I was waiting, they were kinda backed up in the kitchen and they had overcooked a pie for delivery. The head honcho inspected the pie like 3-4 times, lifted it up and looked at the burnt crust and mumbled something to his cronie (not pleasant words i'm sure). They ended up slicing it up and boxing it for delivery since they were backed up, which is poor judgment in my books. It's a cardinal sin to serve up food that's not up to your standards! Though Basic doesn't do pizza by the slice, they still got the best thin crust pizza in town. But if you just want to grab a slice, Ciro's is still probably your best bet.

If i had a fo-hawk, 7 jeans and a button-up with an embroidered dragon or something lame like skulls/eagles on my shirt..i would purposely eat really messy so that it would ruin my horrible attire after i left from deco's or sidebar or some other lame gaslamp joint...but since i dont wear girl jeans and dont have lame shirts and dont have lame hair..(sorry i only use shu uemura).....i would not waste a single piece of this pizza...i would make sure to not spill/ drop any piece of my slice because it is that good here.... tomatoe slice, pesto slice....oh man...i think the slices w/out meat are actually better, im not vegan nor veggie...but thats just what i think... so make sure to hope that after you leave from the club in gaslame and you go here...some muscle head disco freak drops pizza on his clothes, because yes it may be unfortunate that a good slice goes to waste like that, but think about how he feels..he messed up his favorite fit and also missed out on a slice his ass didnt deserve...loser....

Yummy pizza and a great location. Didn't get five stars because the staff in the restaurant is always so grouchy! Must be the New York attitude they are portraying. Anyway, I can't complain because they delivered my New Years Eve pizza within an hour and the delivery guy was friendly.

Wow, a week ago, at this time, I was wishing I had a new pair of feet. Thursday at Con is my day for getting back into the groove so that come Saturday, things run smooth like butter. It's also the first day of my "I'm so sick of Subway" lunches. Oh yeah, we get fed well! Brown bag lunches with a 6 sub (ham, turkey or roast beef), cookies and a surprise fruit (apple or orange). Oh and a couple of pieces of chocolate for dessert. Eating the same thing 4 days in a row can get old pretty fast. So when it's time for dinner, I am all for something, anything, filling, delicious and...not Subway. Since Husband was a Tron nut, he ran around doing some sort of Twitter scavenger hunt and scored 2 wristbands to check out this Tron thing the studio set up. He had already eaten with some other friends and wanted to be in line by 9pm so we had to find someplace that had something quick for me to eat. I figured we could find something along the walk (oh dear lord, more walking?!??!!) to the event. As we're strolling along (okay, I was doing a sort of waddle-limp), I spot...a Subway. NO FRIGGIN' WAY. We pass a pizzeria joint with a line going out the door. Nope. Then I see a sign for Cartoon Network and Ciro's Pizzeria. That looks...promising. While there was a line, it wasn't insane. Sold! Ciro's served up NY style pizza. Browsing the display case, I wasn't keen on any of the slices presented to me so I perused the menu. Oooooh, stromboli? Okay. 20 mins to make, at least? Erm, Husband gave me that "That's too long" look. Okay. How about the eggplant parmesan hero ($7.50)? 15 mins? We can do that. I'm not sure why 5mins made that much of a difference but I wasn't about to argue with Husband, especially since Tron was involved. We placed our order at the register, paid, got a couple of cups for soda and got a table. Sure enough, about 15 mins later, a plate of penne pasta with eggplant parmesan ($9) on top was placed before me. Um...thinking back, I never specified the hero, I just said eggplant parmesan. I totally missed that they had a pasta version. That's okay cuz I really needed the carbs. I sprinkled some hot pepper flakes, took a bite and HOOOOT... But oooh yum. The marinara sauce was thick and tomato-y and you could taste the various Italian seasonings. The eggplant was not heavily breaded but nice and crispy and there was some mozzarella somewhere on the pasta, hiding. This was just what I needed...a rich, hearty, delicious plate of food. Looking online at their website, I was supposed to have gotten some garlic knots with my meal but that didn't happen. Honestly, the service was a little wonky but it could have been that they were a little overwhelmed with all the Con traffic. The staff did look a little frazzled. I do think $9 was a little steep for the food I got, as well. But they deliver and are also within walking distance to the Con and have decent food so they get a thumbs up in my book. Hey, it's not Subway!

Perhaps this pizza is better straight from the oven? We had it delivered to our office downtown and I wasn't impressed. The garlic rolls were pretty decent and the salad was fresh but boring.

Decent prices, but rude service. Moreover, this is NOT NY style pizza! Crust texture was pretty close, but it was too thin on the regular and too bready on the Sicilian. Lacking in the all important puddle of grease on top. Something I'm sure all the health conscious of you don't mind, but it's quintesential to real NY pizza! Slices are too small, too! If they didn't advertise that it was NY pizza, I'd give them a 3, but when you don't get what your expecting, it's very disappointing.

Being that this place is across the street from my house it was the first place I tried when I recently moved into the gaslamp district. I effing love this place. I am used to New York pizza, i grew up on it and living in Califronia for more than half of my life I have come to only one conclusion: I will never find real New York style pizza in California. I've accepted it and have decided to just find good pizza. Ciro's is really great. Probably my fave pizza in Sd after Hoboken (which is not open everyday, what is up with that?) The price is great, the options are great and so is the pizza. (Not to mention the awesome staff) They may not have New York pizza right, but they got that New York state of mind down to a t. AND it's open until midnight during the week and until 2am on the weekends... Perfection.

    (4)
  • Jay D.

It is not NY Style, but given CA and the time that we eat it (post late night drinking), Ciro's does the job. Compared to the other pizza places that's open at this time, I'll walk the distance depending on where I am to get Ciro's. But you gotta time it right because the line does go out the door.

I have been going Downtown/Gaslamp since I was 21 years old (7 years now) and I have never really been excited about the Pizza down there till now! Most of the Pizzas down there are just old and tired re-creations, only edible when you are too buzzed/drunk to notice the difference. BUT! Ciro's down in Downtown (Next to Sidebar, across from Visions) has changed my ENTIRE view of Downtown pizza. I actually come down here when I am SOBER. I've had New York City Pizza (Bleecker's Street) and Boston (Santarpios') so I know what I'm talking about when I say this pizza is awesome! I come for the slices but sometimes I feel a WHOLE pie is worth the wait. From the different types of toppings/combinations, to just the classics, this place handtosses the dough (right in front of you!) and even has the New Yorker attitude (counter people). This place really makes me yearn for NYC! Last night I decided to take my younger brother/sister to this place to let them taste something besides PapaJohns/PizzaHut (Suburbs, what do you expect!) At first the Whole Pie we got was kind of soggy and the toppings slipped off when we picked it up (Not a GOOD start) but as soon as I approached the counter to let them know, the guy behind the counter grabs our Pizza and says he'll make us a new one! I was already surprised that he was pretty cool about it, but who would've thought he was gonna re-make it for us! Second time was a CHARM! We all loved it and gobbled it down with a quickness. I have to say this is a TRUE New York City-style pizza without the NYC attitude (or not TOO much) ;-) I will definitely be back here and bring more friends/family next time!

Reasonably priced pizza, close to my house and fast. I just call ahead and walk down there and pick it up. Yes, I do have to dodge the drunk people as the Gaslamp turns into the Doucheskank on Friday and Saturday nights. But once I get back home, and the pizza's still hot and tasty, it's well worth it.

WHO THE FU*K IS CIRO?! I Need to have a chat with him. Ciro's tastes like every other pizza joint. It's pretty much there to only control your craving(s). Minus 2 stars or the "manager/owner/whatever " for being a total dick to his 2 female employees. NEW YORK STYLE? I think NOT. He's probably a jersey boy. "tro da' pizza ova' dea".

Pizza is like sex. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. I am only giving this place three stars because it's really not that great compared to some of the really amazing slices I've had recently. However, they are open until 2am (if I remember correctly), and they are the perfect massive concoction of grease you need right after a night out or a ball game. For less than five bucks, you'll be satisfactorily fatter and fuller than when you walked in, and I think that includes a drink to wash it down. They have an outdoor patio, which they need because I think it's the only place to eat besides a small bar seating area right inside (bar seating area doesn't mean they actually have a bar, just bar stools and a bar counter). You know what, I think I'll add another star.

I love NY style pizza and this place rocks! It's location is a plus because it's literally next to Side Bar so you will most likely see people standing in line and hungry. It's fast, it's cheap, good service, clean place, good pizza, and they are open late. I wish my cheese pizza had a little more sauce but other than that I'm a definitely a fan!

This is my kinda place! I love really thin crust so I loved this place.

  • Valerie O.

A very good thin crust style pizza. Beer selection could be better, but at least they have Stella. The thinly sliced potato, cheddar, bacon, and scallion pizza was such a wonderful surprise! It is like potato skin pizza. I'm so disappointed when they don't have it. If you see the potato skin pizza, try it! It's in a great location for the post drinking munchies.

I liked my pizza, it hit the spot. We walked over after catching the fireworks show on the Bay. Had the plain cheese and the veggie. BF had the meat-lovers looking one. The red sauce is really tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Seating was a nightmare, long line, and tons of inconsiderate, Jersey Shore reject patrons wearing very little clothing probably heading to/from the club next door. I would go back at a different time as we did enjoy the pizza :)

  • Galen Z.

No good. Try if you want but you will be mad at wasting your $3. Just because its thin and has cheese and sauce does not make it NY Pizza. Keep trying guys.

  • Eddy C.

Maybe it's because I read reviews. Maybe it's because I'm lucky. Maybe it's because I am a guy. For whatever reason, I rarely meet a piece of pizza that I don't like. Having said that -- Wow. This is the w-o-r-s-t pizza I have had in a looooong time. Probably since the 80's. I would rather eat Little Ceasar's. The dough is rubbery. The pizza sauce is bland. The only good thing I can really say is that it was pretty cheap for a beer and 2 slices -- about $7, as I recall. That's the reason for the 2nd star. I try not to be too negative. Karma, ya know? At least they're polite.

Awesome pizza slices - so tasty and good. Not too heavy and their range of beers are amazing. Good for a quick bite.

We had Ciro's deliver pizza to our large group at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Not only was our pizza outstanding, they also supplied us with utensils, napkins and plates! The food was delicious and we enjoyed eating leftovers for the next couple days. In addition to their pizza, we also ordered their garlic knots and we all LOVED it. I can't wait to go back to San Diego and visit Ciro's again!

  • Katie L.

My manager and I eat here for lunch all the time (probably too much) & it definetly hits the spot! Typically we go and get a slice and a garlic knot, which is pretty good. However, we sometimes order a whole pizza & you can taste the difference big time! I love how thin the crust is, & their seems to be a perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. Bottom line- grab a slice for a decent quick bite, or order a fresh whole pizza for a great meal. Also, the employees are really nice! Good service, good food, im sold!

  • Lizzy B.

Once again, I find myself rating their service and not their food. I love their specialty "my pie" which is the only reason I've ever given this place a second chance. However, after living in the same location for almost two years and getting pizza delivered from here regularly with no issue, for some reason yesterday (Wednesday, around 7 p.m.) they just refused to deliver to me. Despite informing them that they have always done so in the past, and being located only two and a half miles from the place, apparently this was suddenly too much for whoever was working that night. Suffice to say, this may be my last attempt to get over Ciro's shitty service...

    (1)
  • Xander H.

Wish I could do less than 0 rating. This is the second time I have been after a bad yelp review and still no garlic knots. Will not come back. Management reached out and here I am. Empty promises... Go to gaslamp pizza

They run out of garlic nots all the time. These are better than their pizza so I don't understand why they always run out. Horrible for business.

Great thin crust pizza. Great service from Celeste who had a fun and sweet personality. Her tats were a perfect compliment to her personality. Sat outside on the patio watching all the beautiful people walking by. $22 for 3 large slices and two san diego micro brews. Will most certainly come back!

This place has some delicious pizza! I had the one with jalapeños and a Hawaiian slice. I tried the jalapeños one first n wish I got more slices but when I ate the Hawaiian I didn't regret choosing that as well. Anthony took care of me and recommended a drink for me too which was delicious! I don't even know what it was, sorry. Even after eating, he was sure to pick up out plates and is a busy bee around the place. Also gave friendly conversations and recommended other places for me and my boyfriend to check out! Great pizza and great staff! MmMmm

LOVE the PIZZA oh and the GARLIC KNOTS are amazing! Way great when I worked downtown just to get a slice and a few garlic knots, there BBQ chicken pizza is reallly yummy!! I dont even normally like BBQ chicken pizza but I love theirs, get place before or after a baseball game or after some drinking on the weekend. Just talking about there food makes me want to go get some pizza :)

HORRIBLE service the girl at the front is extremely rude even to customers like myself and my friends who WEREN'T drunk. My friends and I were eating and they were getting ready to close and one of the bouncers came by and said " alright time to rap it up now I'm trying to go home" WOW pretty much kicking us out. We explained that we were almost done and he wouldn't get out of our faces and even cursed at us. As we were leaving we heard the girl at the front say " yea get the f#%^ out of here!" Worst customer service don't think we'll be going back. :( P.S girl at the register you could be nice and assertive, seems like you really need to be coached and trained. Learn some customer service skills if you don't want to work at a pizza place for the rest of your life next time I'm in downtown ill be going to GASLAMP PIZZA , where the people at the front are always super nice even to the drunk idiots.

  • Joe T.

I like that they are open late and offer a wide variety of pizza slices for sale. Most places the do pizza by the slice usually offer only 2 to 3 different types. They offer 5 to 7 different types. The beer selection is more like a bar than a take away pizza joint. The pizza itself is ok. I have had better pizza but when your really hungry or severely buzzed then this place is pretty good. Service is fast and friendly and when I am downtown looking for a quick snack, this is my go to place.

    (3)
  • Diane C.

This is one of the best pizza places I have had the privilege to eat at. It rivals the pizza place inside the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. The dough had the best texture and flavor and the toppings are applied just right b

YUM. Best nightcap in Gaslamp. Open late, but be prepared for a relatively long wait if you are arriving right around when the bars/clubs are shutting down (~1:30-2am)

I'm not giving Ciro's Pizzeria any stars and that's because the pizza and the roll I got with my friend, tasted horrible but I have to put one because it won't let me post without "rating"! Also, I got two slices to go for my mom and my dog and someone so happened to steal it out front within 5-10 minutes of me bring there. Sketch! If anything, thanks to the girl in the big glasses for cashing us out.

  • Steve S.

Pizza is a little pricey but good. Double check but normally there are 1/2 price pizzas on Thursdays. The pesto pizza is f-n amazing. When I have money to blow this is one of a very few pizza places I eat at. Also, being from the East where all us I-talians live, I like to think I know a tasty pizza when I see one. **Depending on what pizza you order this pizza does have some extra grease from the cheese, but I still love it.

    (4)
  • Stephanie D.

Thin crust pizza is second only to CA burritos in my life and Ciro's definitely does it for me. They have relatively cheap slices + a good selection + quick service meaning there isn't really anything to complain about. This place is no Bronx Pizza, but is a legit spot for some decent food.

    (4)
  • Junie D.

Kinda like the girl you brought home that same night....it's best enjoyed after a few libations...the only difference is that there will be no walk of shame....maybe some beer $h!ts, but that would be inevitable either way. A staple in after night cuisine Ciro's fills the need for greasy deliciousness after a night on the town. The line depends on what time you get there. The quality depends on how drunk you are. Always a variety of choices, but the standards "pepperoni, cheese" are always smart choices. Pound a few beers, take a few shots, shake your groove thang and have a slice...you'll make me proud.

  • Edgar C.

Honestly I always stop by for a slice of pizza after a good night out! But I was highly DISAPPOINTED when I checked in and was offered a free garlic knots and the rude guy at the cash register said that they were out. When I asked if I could substitute for one slice of pizza he laughed at me. This was at 11pm. How are they out?? I just laughed back and told them they lost a customer! After that I had to stick around because other guys had ordered wings. The person helping us out said 5-10 min...took 25 minutes! To top it off when we went to the bar in the back, the bartender is no where to be seen. 10 minutes later he shows up. SMH LIKE I SAID, LOST A TRUE CUSTOMER! and disappointed a few visitors from out of town!

Stopped in one afternoon for lunch. Was just walking by and noticed what appears as a little new york style pizzeria. Decided to do the 2 slices and a beer for $9. Pizza was a bit dry, but don't get me wrong, it was defiantly worth the price in downtown and could've easily just been the specific pie. I had two slices of the Margherita.

  • Timothy L.

Ok just a heads up, this review may be a bit biased/skewed since every time I have ever eaten here I was extremely drunk. But when I am drunk downtown I beg all my friends to stop by here to it is programmed into my brain that Ciro's = BOMB pizza. The pizza here is pretty legit NY style. From the dough to the size of the slices. They have a bunch of pizzas at night that you can choose from and they will heat up for you. From the standard pepperoni to Hawaiian they have it all and they do it very well. I also highly suggest the garlic knots. Those are always a hit with my friends and I but just a warning that during the busy times aka 2AM when bars close they tend to run out. The workers are very friendly and work very efficiently. Even though there is a line out the door they are very quick with everything. There is a bar inside so if you need a beer with your slice they got you covered.

I loooooovvveeeee me some Ciro's pizza. We've been stumbling into this late night pizza spot for years now. A night out with the girls is not complete until I have my 2 slices of pie with a coke and smile. There are many different choices of pizza by slice as well as garlic knots in the display case. My favs include anything with Ricotta cheese, anything with pesto, and their BBQ chicken. It's thin crust pizza, not too much sauce, not too much cheese... just right. Sprinkle some crushed red pepper and oregano on it and you are good to go. It makes me happy to see a local business thrive in the Gaslamp. Ciro's used to be a tiny little spot right next to SideBar, and now that they've expanded, they have a decent size dining area. The fact that they have opened up a location in Pacific Beach makes me happy too.

Pie wasn't bad, but the owner seems to have an inferiority complex. Made us feel unwelcomed from the time we got there. Even started making fun of our names! Not to mention we had our toddler with us. Guy's just a lonely squid, I guess. Then the fire alarm went off while we were eating. Bad experience all around. Not recommended.

One of the top two pizza places downtown! Love the local Wednesday special, we try to come down as often as we can. Delivery is fast, even all the way out to 14th St area only took about 40 mins total. The pizza is good and the beers are almost all local!

  • Jeff T.

I've been here two times, and both were after a night of clubbing. Open late and very affordable, Ciro's gets my hunger satisfied with their New York style thin crust pizza and array of light toppings. None of that drenched sauce and 2:1 bread ratio here. You wont feel like a fat blob after eating here. Pizza slices on display are reheated. You may want to ask them to heat longer if you prefer gooey cheese. Chocolate mousse cake was pretty good. Don't forget to check-in on yelp to get 2 free garlic knots!

    (4)
  • Sophie J.

Fantastically delicious place to stop for lunch or late dinner to grab some yummy slices of pie. The pizza is traditional thin crust, with several options to choose from. I rarely eat a whole pizza so if you are passing by and your hungry and watching the waist line don't feel guilty about just grabbing a slice to go. Great food with good customer service...I'LL BE BACK!

I love to get the pizza slice with ricotta! This is a quality spot to grab a slice of pizza and beer with great people watching if you get the window seat. Open pretty late too!

    (5)
  • Reid K.

When you're drunk in gaslamp at 2am, this spot does not disappoint. The sweet worker hooked us up with a whole pie cuz we were polite amongst a bunch of drunken fools. I'm a carnivore so the abundance of meat on the meat lovers was perfect. On fleek. Take a cab or uber home after you eat tho.

  • Nate W.

Not the best pizza I've ever had bit its the best I've had in downtown SD. What's more impressive ia the excellent selection of beer, happy hour pricing, and the service is great. Staff is friendly and passionate about the product they put out.

  • Joy M.

located next to Bang Bang, this place is pretty basic in their menu: cheap, quick, relatively decent. their Yelp check-in offer is 2 free garlic knots. the seating isn't too spacious, but of course your goal is not to spend too much time here. either grab a quick pre-drinks snack before your night on the town, or stop in towards the end to grab something to soak up all that alcohol. beware of the ratchet drunk girls and douches, though. noise level of course is super loud, but hey at least you can watch SportsCenter while you eat your pizza. -civilities.

    (3)
  • J Z.

Mediocre pizza at best. Good if your drunk or messed up. If you're looking for good quality ingredients and great taste, look somewhere else. update. I have to give these guys credit. After posting my review the manager did reach out and apologize and invite me back in for another chance. Will give them another try and report back.

  • Lorain M.

The pizza is OK! After clubbing if your starving or too drunk and you need something in your belly to absorb the alcohol, then sure get a few slices of pizza. If you need to use the restroom, be warned it's disgusting. There was urine all over the floor, on the toilet paper roll and God knows what else. Disgusting!! Someone should be checking the bathrooms periodically. Get it together!!!

  • Shanel S.

This place isn't too fancy when you're sober. I would have LOVED to be drunk, tipsy, or buzzed to enjoy it... but I wasn't. This used to be our go-to pizza shop at the hotel I work at and now they just can't come through. It was my first time actually visiting the restaurant and I'm grossed out for eating it and glad we don't get it anymore. There were about four guys working and the place was empty. The dough was just sitting out in the open the entire time we were there and the pizza in the display didn't have a window to close it from flies or getting dried out. The pizza was not fresh at all so of course the oven was it's only saving grace. When it came out of the oven it was extremely oily and cheeseless. I don't know why I keep trying to give Ciro's a shot. PB was a fail, Hillcrest was a fail, and now Downtown totally failed. Gross. Sorry.

    (1)
  • Tim P.

We went there to grab a quick bite to eat after our night out. Food was great but staff could have been more friendly, but I guess that is normal if you work at a place where a lot of drunk people go after going out.

  • Erin K.

The garlic knots are insanely good!! I got a slice of the pizza with pesto and pepperoni, it was delicious! I wish I would have got another slice. Next time I'm in town I'll absolutely go here again!

Cool Pizza by the slice and fully licensed bar to boot. None of this cheap beer in the fridge crap. Anthony, the bar tender extraordinaire from MA is the bomb. Funny, smart, and he'll look after you. Don't just grab your pizza and go. Stay, grab a drink and hang for a while. You won't regret it!

Loved the pizza here. Will be back the next time I visit San Diego. Satisfied with meaty cheesy goodness. The knotts were also pretty good.

This place is great! Simple, laid back, instant service, as well as a diverse pizza selection. I was instantly greeted and helped by Anthony, who took the time to speak to me a bit on a personal level, introducing himself and asking about my day and such. Overall just wonderful service and great pizza. Make sure to check in and try the garlic knots as a check in offer! :)

There is nothing like a fresh pizza from Ciros! Wether it's just a cheese or pepperoni pizza or one of there great specialty Pies like Buffalo chicken, or the gourmet Fig And Pig with smoked Gouda cheese dried figs bacon and a balsamic reduction glaze!! It's amazeballs! And if your girl doesn't want pizza they have awesome salads! One with arugula and apples and a spinach one and a few romaine choices! I eat here almost daily I always go for there happy hour!! There slices are almost half price! With good deals on beer as well they have a reverse happy hr from 10 to midnight as well u can't lose! O and did I mention the 44 different BEERs they have!!!! As well as cocktails! There customer service is excellent they want you to leave happy so if there is something wrong speak up they aim to please!! I told them one of the pizza was looking old in the window so the manager thanked me for telling him and replaced it with a freshhhhh pie! If you want them at there best you need to order a fresh personal pie you can't beat fresh from the oven pizza!!

Pizza always great - manager reached out after review and said would coach employee. That's great! People make mistakes or miss sometimes that when busy it's easy to sound short with custys. I'm sure we have all been there! Pizza excellent, people seem to care - biggest take away here!!

  • Brad B.

Yep, there are plenty of late night pizza options downtown when the bars are closing but this one gets my vote. None of them are great, so this review is reflective of the competition in the area - not pizza in general. Cheap, fast and decent. There are several options in the case and they are quick to warm it up for you. Grab a seat, coat it with red pepper flakes and go to town. Definitely drunk food... There is also some really good people watching going on here. Mostly drunk girls and guys trying to make their final move. Desperation at its finest!

Pizza was greasy and overpriced. $22 for a pepperoni pie is insane. The people working the counters were very nice but a little all over the place. We ordered from one guy, and were waiting to pay when another girl asked if we needed help - we tried to pay her - then she walked away - then we ended up paying the original guy after we flagged him down. We probably could have walked away without paying they were that disorganized. We also saw the main guy try to serve someone a burnt piece of pizza - only to have it returned. I'm sure there is a better place in the city to get pizza - so just skip this place.

Ciro's has been a downtown SD staple for a few years now. They serve pizza by the slice and as a whole. I usually stick to the basic cheese or pepperoni. The pizzas are nice and thin and have a great crunch in the crust. However, there have been a couple times where the pizza was flimsy but that can be easily fixed with a fold in the crust. The overall flavor of the pizza was good. Good sauce, good cheese and a good ratio of sauce to cheese to meats on each slice. There are also other items on the menu such as garlic knots and salads. I have tried the garlic knots as well and they were a little dry. Maybe I just got an older batch that was gonna be replaced soon. Can't complain too much since you get two for free just by checking in on this awesome thing called Yelp! (As of 6/27/14) They also have a good selection of alcohol and local beers on tap. Location: It's a good spot to come to if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. My most recent visit was on a Friday night (6/27/14) and there were some club goers coming in since they are located right next to a club. With that being said, the noise level could range from anywhere between quiet and loud, all depending on when you come in. It is not very big, it's another hole in the wall restaurant but nothing to complain about since it is a pizza joint. However, there is a mini bar located in the middle of the left wall that seats about 4-5 people. They have a good selection of alcohol and local beers on tap.

Very fast and I LOVED the garlic knots that were free with check in. LOVE! Pizzas were alright as well. No complaints.

  • Dave R.

Over-rated. We had Ciro's pizza last time we were in San Diego and it was ok, but not certainly not great. The delivery experience was fine... although it took over an hour, but perhaps that was to be expected on a Saturday night. The pizza itself was only ok at best. I'm not sure what others are used to, but for $65 for 2, count them two, pizzas, these were not that great. If I'm ever desperate for pizza in San Diego in the future, and Pizza Hut and Dominos aren't available, I guess I'd opt for Ciro's, but it definitely won't be my first choice.

  • Clair C.

This place rocked it tonight! I went in for a bite in between St. Patties day drinks and was super pleased. I started with a slice of meatball pizza that was so good I went back for another slice. I also ate at the bar where Anthony suggested this great hazelnut porter. Thanks man. I recommend stopping here in between drinks downtown anytime.

  • Karl S.

Did the delivery thing. Was great and arrived a few minutes early. Ordered 2 personal pizzas, one white and one red. The white was awesome, called the 'shroom. One of the best white pizzas we've had. Perfect, crunchy thin crust. The red was the Meathead. Outstanding as well. We will for sure order from there again.

Listen I still consider this place a late night pizza spot, but the people working the front end are genuine and as I tend to buy the product for the homeless this is what matters to me.

  • Shanna S.

First time I went in and didn't see what I wanted and the nice guy behind the counter made a fresh sausage pizza so I could get a couple slices (they don't do sausage in the UK ). Then he suggested I check in on Yelp to get 2 free garlic knots. Sadly, the wifi didn't work. Second time I went in the guy behind the counter was obviously new and not very helpful - no sausage pizza for me. Settled for a slice of plain cheese pizza and 2 free garlic knots with marinara. Still yummy but slightly disappointing. ps: slices are gigantic so order one, maybe two with the $9 deal, but don't let your eyes order or your stomach will probly burst!

  • Alicia E.

Forgot that this place sucks and ordered delivery. Over 2 hours and WRONG pizza. Worst customer service over the phone.... Initially wanted to add on garlic knots and was told "ugh why didn't you tell me first, now I have to charge you again..." When order was late I "gave the wrong address..." Worst service ever, seriously boycott Ciro's

Good pizza @ a great price. This place is not always easy to find if you don't know where to look but I highly recommend it. Prices are great, food is delicious and they even have local beer which is always great! I recommend any of their pizzas but also try out their garlic knots which are really good They have a few chairs out side so you can eat and watch people walk by. They stay open late so it helps feed those midnight or after party cravings.

Well the slices of pizza help us sober up from Sidebar next door! :P Their garlic knots have a pretty strong flavor, can definitely be better..

The staff here has always been friendly, the pizza is reasonably priced and delicious and they have been very accommodating to large groups. Parking can be tough if there is a ball game but otherwise this is a great little gem. They also have a business card drawing, lots of tv's for those interested in watching sports and a good beer selection.

Ciro's Pizza SD: Gaslamp 9pm Saturday 16 June 2012 Three and Half Stars Usually this place is reserved for when you are really sloshed but we decided pizza was a good meal before going to work. We ordered a garlic knot ($1) and White Mushroom Pizza ($19) from the slightly crazy cashier. The Crust was slightly soggy. The Sauce was rich and pretty tasty despite the amount of oil. The Ricotta was amazing - it should be on all pizzas. The Mushrooms were well cooked. Overall, it was not bad pizza. *This place is fine but the atmosphere is just depressing. The workers look like their souls have been crushed and the rest of dinners look pretty much the same.

I think what I liked most about this place was the simple fact that they were open. Seriously, I'd been to San Diego in the past, and noticed just how early things closed on a regular basis, and wondered if it was going to be the same way during Comic-Con, when there would be over 100,000 nerds running around looking to spend money on late night food and booze. A surprising number of places still closed "early" relative to nocturnal nerd tendencies, leaving somewhat of a void for people if they wanted to eat later in the night. My friends and I went to Ciro's, and were easily seated in the back with no problems. They had pizza, and they had beer, which is really all I ask for in a restaurant sometimes. The waitress was nice, answered all my questions about going half-and-half on a pizza, and even made some good beer recommendations. If I had any knock on this place however, it's the fact that they BLAST rap music throughout the place. Now I don't have a problem with rap music; hearing as much Eminem as I did made me feel like it was 2002 all over again, it's just the fact that it's blasted so loud, it causes obvious communication problems not only with the people you're sitting with, but with the wait staff. But for what it's worth, at least it was an hour where I didn't once hear Robin Thicke or Justin Timberlake. I ordered a half-and-half pizza, with one half being mozzarella, with the other half wanting to be goat cheese, but the rap was so loud that in spite of saying "goat" three times, it was interpreted as me saying "no cheese." Seriously, short of writing it down or saying "golf, omega, alpha, tango" was going to get my order through over the music. That being said, our pizza had to be sent back for goat cheese to be added to it, and thrown back in the oven. Needless to say, the predictable result that it was a little overcooked happened. I prefer my New York slices to fold pliably, and not necessarily snap in the middle. Regardless, the flavors of the pizza were still good, albeit a little on the crunchy side. It's nothing world beating, but still good enough to consider going back, after a night of bar hopping. Prices are fair, the hours are convenient, and the place would be a whole lot more comfortable if the music just weren't so loud. And, had more than one bathroom. Not that that effected me personally, but we were seated in front of the restroom, and it's a bit concerning when three drunk club girls start banging on the door to scare whomever is in there out of it, so that the three can go in at the same time.

BEST PIZZA EVER!!! Had 7 slices this past weekend and tried a bunch of craft beers as well. Rich and Anthony were the bartenders behind the beer and were great.

What better food is there when you're out drinking with friends?! Sure, you could go find a dirty dog or get some tacos somewhere, but you're out with friends! Order yourself a large pie and share the dining experience! Been here twice after a night of walking around Gaslamp and I've gotta say that their pizza is good! No, the taste wasn't clouded by alcohol! I don't think..... Not too expensive for a whole pizza that fed 6 friends. They close off the back seating area at a certain time and have a security guy making sure you don't go back there. You can't even use their restroom! But they're really friendly here and get out whole pizzas pretty quickly. You can also order by the slice, which is a must when you're open late!

This is the post-bar/club place to eat. As a non-drinker, I'd have to say this pizza is not good when you are sober; however it is fantastic if you do drink and you need help soaking-up the alcohol to avoid a terrible hang-over the next day. After 2a.m., if you have to choose between Brian's 24, Mary Jane's, and Ciro's, I'd save a little money and go with Ciro's. When you are sober, go to Bronx Pizza in Hillcrest to get good New York style pizza. There are a few tables in the back to sit down and eat. There is one bathroom for everyone.

This place is insane, the best pizza in San Diego. Ask for Anthony, he is a great server!

The pairing of pizza and beer is like PB&J, Sonny and Cher, or Oreos and milk. Well, come to Ciro's and you can get two slices of pizza and beer for $8. Bring.It.On! As mentioned many times before when I've reviewed pizza joints, I'm a born and bred New Yorker who knows my pizza. Ciro's claimed to be New York style, and I have to say, they came pretty darn close! My friend and I came in here after getting some drinks in the area, and the pizza and beer special sounded like a perfect way to cap our night's adventures. The owner was friendly and quick with our order, which was awesome, and the price was phenomenal (especially for the Gaslamp District). There really wasn't much seating, but we were able to lean against a small pseudo-table on the wall and drink our beer. When the pizza came out, it looked and smelled like true New York pizza. Truth be told - it tasted like it, too! I was pleasantly surprised by this pizza place, and I would definitely head in here if you had the chance. Again, pizza and beer for $8?! It seriously doesn't get better than that.

I had just left the yelp event and needed a little more food. Stopped here for a quick slice and got a garlic knot on top, when I checked in. The food is great and it is nice to be able to just get a slice of what you want. One piece goes a long way, here.

Truly amazing pizza! 1/2 off on Thursdays! Plus a fantastic beer selection , and Anthony is so helpful and easy going while we were picking out our drinks. Just waked in off the street and now I'm a fan!

I used to come here ALL the time especially after a night of clubbing. I was craving pizza for lunch so I stopped by and boy was that a bad idea. I immediately felt sick after eating their pizza and garlic knots and will probably not return to this location. Disappointed that the more popular a place becomes the ruder the staff is and the less quality food they produce. Thumbs down find another place to eat

The pizza here is barely ok for by the slice but i will never order delivery from here again. Waited for 2 hours for my pizza to arrive, I was warned of the long wait time but still seems pretty ridiculous since I live 3 blocks away. But the big eye opener was after waiting for the delivery guy for two hours he couldnt even bring the pizza up to my door, I had to walk down to the bottom of the hill to meet him. He didnt even attempt to look around for the place, i know because i was sitting out on my balcony with a view all the way down the street so i saw when he pulled up and called. Even when he saw me come out of the building and start walking his way he didnt even attempt to meet me halfway or even begin taking the pizza out for me. AND THEN THE PIZZA WAS COLD. Poor customer service, sub par product. Honestly, I rather eat chain pizza then eat here again. Maybe its cool for beers but ill never return, anywhere in dt san diego is cool for beers! **Update** Ciros reached out to me shortly after posting this review and apologized for my experience. They even invited me to give them another shot. This really shows this place cares which i think is really cool, so i will give it another shot.

We are from Boston and, since moving to California, have struggled to find what we consider good pizza. CIRO's pizza is FANTASTIC. The owners are from the Boston area and modeled their pizza after the greats: Pizzeria Regina, Santarpios, etc. If you are missing east-coast pizza--or just want to enjoy yummy pizza--go to Ciro's. Also, they have an amazing beer selection, with unique craft brews on tap and constantly changing options. As an added bonus for non-beer drinkers, they have a full bar---the best 8 foot bar in San Diego! Prices are super reasonable and they have specials every weeknight. They are open late too, so stop by after the bars for a slice (or two). Rich, one of the owners and the bartender, is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the beers---and he makes a decent martini! It's our go-to place at least once a week. Hopefully we'll see you there!

Do not ever come in here Sunday evenings. Came in here after Intervention Sundays at the Hard Rock. Worst mistake ever. Although I was third in line, the service here was extremely slow. It felt like it was everyone's first day on the job here and I think everyone in my group could even agree with me on that. I had someone hand me $2 for a water bottle that they were waiting in line for, for 10 minutes. What a shame too because the pizza was so good. Don't know if I can say I would be back.

Busy little "collegetown-esque" pizzeria. Their whole pizzas are on the pricey side, so I walked down to the Gaslamp from the Grand Hyatt to grab some slices. Ciro's is located next door to what appears to be the hottest club for douchebags in San Diego on Sunday nights. I grabbed a couple of slices and sat in the front window for about an hour. While drinking beer and eating above-average pizza, I watched three girls get into a cat fight, a bouncer head-lock a Jersey-shore lookalike, and a drunk girl unintentionally flashing me the goods. Decent selection of beers on tap and one of the most entertaining, albiet trashy, nights of my time in San Diego.

Let me preface that i've been struggling to find a good pizza place in San Diego. Luckily, I was on a food tour by So Diego Tours and Ciro's was a stop. They sell by the slice and as whole pizzas. I had a slice of the buffalo chicken and it was probably one of the best pieces of pizza i've ever had. The thinner crust was delicious and crispy and the toppings were perfect. The pizza was fabulous but I can't speak to the rest of the menu since I haven't tried it. Not only was it good but their selection looked plentiful - I really look forward to trying the "My Pie." Their locations do deliver but you'd have to check what the surrounding area is. Not even a week after visiting Ciro's in the Gaslamp, I picked up the same Buffalo Chicken pizza to-go from the PB location. The pizza was $22.99, but you got 8 large slices of pizza, which could easily feed 3-4 people, depending on how hungry they are. As a little secret, I think it tastes even better reheated in the oven the following day to crisp up the crust. I can't wait to try more pizza from Ciro's - I highly recommend!!

  • Fox H.

I hate giving unpleasant reviews however I was super craving some pizza. The selection of beer was vast and the setting is nice but the pizza I had was terrible. I've had lots of precooked reheated pizza from many places and it's usually Damn good. But here it was horrible. The cheese was hard and it was completely dry. It was like eating a pizza flavored dried sponge. I believe that the pizza was cooked and reheated and refrigerated a couple times. I'd rather home cooked pizza or dominoes compared to what I had. I hope this was a one time thing but I don't believe I will chance this again.

This place is the perfect step down from a night out on the town. Always good jams, always quick service, always tasty slices. And even some fancy slices, for the fancy girls with their nails done, hair done, everything big. You want roasted red pepper and goat cheese at 2am? Go for it! One of my favorite post-drinking-stuff-your-face-before-bedtime-to-try-to-soak-up-the-booze joints in downtown!

  • Stephanie H.

This place is great. There is so much energy and Ciro's I'm sure makes a killing in the Gaslamp for pizza cravings after the clubs. The guys who work there are all have that NY attitude, they cut to the chase and are always hard at work. It's really quite an experience going there late nights on the weekend to see all the drunkards and club girls stumbling around in high heels waiting on their pizzas and offering up whatever entertaining stories from the night. Also, during Comic Con this place for the past few years has been transformed by the Cartoon Network and it looks AWESOME. Totally worth checking it out during then too. But yea, pretty much your perfect little pizza OH YEA THE LASAGNA IS TO DIE FOR!!!!!!!! It sometimes takes a little while when you order it, but that's only because it's fresh.

Just ok. Pros: 1. pizza was pretty good once it finally came out (see below). Came out piping hot. 2. Decent music. 3. Interesting cocktail menu, but not big enough Cons: 1. For being a beer - centric place, their selection is vast yet weak. My dad (sort of an old-school kind of guy) was looking for a Bud, which they didn't have. He settled for a PBR but they were out (?!?!? Huh??) The next closest type of beer that was similar we got and my dad hated it. 2. Pizza took about 30-40 minutes to come out. We were quoted 15 minutes but after about 25 minutes to a half hour or pizza still wasn't there. We asked what was going on and they said it would be another 15 minutes because they were "backed up". We overheard one customer get pretty angry as she's been waiting for over an hour for her pizza. Waiting so long kinda put a damper on things especially after our drinks weren't that great. By the way, it wasn't that busy and this was a Sunday evening. 3. Minimal staff. The bartender (there's just one apparently) was sweet but it was her first day and she looked liked she was flustered. 4. It's a seat yourself kind of place which is fine, but as folks who had never been there before, that was initially pretty confusing. No signage. Other than the new bartender, no one was overly helpful. 5. Only one, one-person bathroom. Crazy. 6. Very hot in there! Minimal ventilation and no AC. Bummer.

Make sure and check in for your free garlic knots, they're much tastier than the slices! The buffalo chicken slice didn't have much flavor, or chicken.

Decided to give this place a second try. The manager did reach out to me, that was my reason for going back. They had a great special going 2 slices of pizza and a draft beer for $9. The pizza was okay, nothing to brag about. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. Maybe their made to order pizza is better than by the slice, but I give this pizzeria a 3 out of 5.

    (3)

Good food. Rude and cocky staff. Won't be back they don't seem to value us as customers. The two male workers think they are too cool for school. Weird vibes.

So as a guy who grew up in New York and New Jersey, this is the spot for me for pizza in San Diego. Especially since they changed up the place and added a bar with a slew of awesome local craft beers. The service here is pretty on point also. Richie and Anthony always give good pointers on what beers to try when I don't know what I'm in the mood for. Did I mention the pizza? I highly recommend this place as a preface spot, or as a place to wind down at at the end of a gaslamp night.

  • Mariana Z.

The pizza here is delicious, I can not go out in downtown without stopping by to get some Ciro's pizza. The service there is usually good, the waiters there are quick and efficient in attending the long line that is made at around 1:30 am when all the bars/clubs close. Unfortunately, my last visit was not so enjoyable. I went in to get some pizza and a waitress named Aaron there was rude and had an attitude. I don't know if she was having a bad day or she just did not have costumer service skills but she just ruined my pizza run. Ryan, another waiter there was really happy to help me and apologized on her behalf. Hopefully next time I go, Aaron is not around!!

I used to live in San Diego and I would always see this place with a HUGE line outside of it late at night, but I never stopped but to try it. Well, I was in SD this week so I stopped by with my boyfriend to grab a slice of pizza, and guess what? Their pizza was delicious. Prices were great, about $3 a slice and they warm them up for you when you order to make them super fresh and crispy. I literally loved everything about it, the sauce the cheese, and the crust. Why may you ask did I give Ciro's 3 stars instead of 5 then? there were flies EVERYWHERE in the restaurant. In the display case where the pizza was, the entire first row of pizza had flies flying all over the place. I was literally so disgusted when I saw them that I didn't even want to order a slice, but I was so hungry that I decided to look past it. Even though their pizza is good, they need to clean up a bit and get rid of the gross flies!!

    (3)
  • Janel S.

I don't usually write reviews but I'm a flight attendant and travel everywhere eating good food in lots of places and the staff here were so nice I feel that they needed a shout out! Good customer service is hard-to-find! The food was great and the prices and portions were wonderful!

Recently went here on a food tour through Gaslamp, and it was amazing! I had their My Pie and it was delicious! It had a pesto sauce instead of tomato. I'm not a sauce person, so I liked that their pizzas were easy on the sauce. Also, their Bit Of honey house cocktail, was AMAZING I could drink them every night! They're fruity and sweet but refreshing. Also, their staff is very friendly and helpful. My fiance and I are definitely coming back for thier happy hour and weeknight deals.

  • E C.

Well what can I say about Ciros, definitely New York style pizza. Good taste, however if you order a pizza with peppers and onions and such you might want to ask them to double the toppings. Three stars for the big pizza with little toppings.

    (3)
  • Anna S.

The pizza here is not too thick but not too thin when it comes to the crust. I'm a pizza folder, and this is foldable pizza. The sauce is great - not too sweet but not too bitter - and the cheese is good without being overly greasy. They deliver downtown, which is awesome, and placing an order was super easy. One star off because it is a bit pricey for pizza, but it is good quality and downtown, so it's worth the extra few bucks....meh...I'll give them the star. The rent downtown is high.

Love the pizza, great selection of beers, and the garlic knots bring me in every time I'm in downtown.

ADVENTURE TIME! I have no idea what Ciro's is like when it's not part of Cartoon Network's most hilarious show, but during Comic-Con it was outstanding. The entire menu was themed, and the place was transformed into a giant homage for the show. There were also daily parades, but that's neither here or there. What about the food? My girlfriend and I ordered two combos - a slice and a coke, and two slices and a beer. The total came out to a ridiculously low $11, and that's with a 20oz draft beer! (Stella, too) The cheese slice was the best, but the spinach and ricotta and "everything" slice (bacon, jalapenos, peppers, sausage) were both pretty good as well. As you can imagine, it was nuts during Comic-Con, and if they have those same deals during "normal" operations then I'd definitely recommend it for a cheap lunch or dinner.

I've been here twice and both times were for my 2am after hours munches. The line moved quick. options for slices were few. It gets the job done for sure but I've had better pizza in the area. I love that its thin crust and the crust is nice and crispy. Unfortunately the overall pizza lacks much flavor.

During Comic-Con, I noticed a bunch of my fellow attendees with clip-on plushies of Jake from the cartoon Adventure Time. When I found out that they were being given out at Ciro's, off I went! Ciro's had been transformed into an Adventure Time homage during Comic-Con; the roof had a giant inflatable Finn and Jake, and the walls were covered with images from the show. The flat-screens were showing endless loops of the cartoon - which to be honest, is a little weird for this Yelper who grew up watching classic Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes... maybe I either need to be under 12, or high on something to appreciate it. But I digress - anyway, the food was actually a bit better than Gaslamp Pizza a few blocks away. I liked the the slice of sausage and ricotta I ordered, and the soda was what I needed after a day of walking the exhibit hall floor and trekking to Ciro's. However, the place is small with barely any seating, the waitress ringing up my order was a bit surly (but then again, it was the Comic-Con crowd, so I'll let that slide for now), and they were out of garlic knots (along with the Jake plushie... though I got one from my coworker who snagged one when she was at Ciro's a few days prior). Still, I really want to try more of Ciro's offerings (especially said garlic knots), and the prices are very affordable, so next time I'm downtown (or at the next Comic-Con, whichever comes first), Ciro's is definitely a destination to head to.

Pizza by the slice is good, they got rid of the thicker pizza squares and never have any white sauce varieties. The wings are atrocious, no flavor at all amd don't even get me started on the $26 I spent for a pizza the other night, unreal.

    (2)
  • Eric B.

Not a fan of thin crust pizza but the white sauce is pretty decent. The location is pretty amazing. Right outside of Sidebar making it a very entertaining for people watching. This month alone I saw 1)a girl bite a bouncer's arm and get tackled and arrested 2) some random girl grabbed my friends face, just kissed him and walked away 3) the most desperate bouncer spent 30 minutes pleading with a girl to get her number.

I was looking for something quick to eat since my friend wanted to meet up and it was a little early to go salsa dancing. I suggested this place since it's pretty good and everything else would probably take too long. We both got a slice of the Hawaiian pizza and they reheat it so it tastes a little better. I'm pretty sure it gets busy after all the clubs close since they open till 3am on the weekend.

If you're like me and find it funny to watch hot drunk chicks mack down on greasy pizza then you'll love Ciro's. Drinking free Grey Goose and pretending to be interested in D-bags with a table is tough work so their's a fair share of high heeled hunnies that head over after being at Sidebar next door. The pizza itself is pretty decent, but then again I don't think I've ever had a sober slice. Other than the entertainment factor and being one of the only late night food options around there's nothing extremely noteworthy. For a drunk food option it get's my seal of approval.

2nd time here; I'd say it's Hit-or-Miss on service. I like the salad ok; would have liked it to include a bread knot. Oh well, I know now no bread with Salads. Probably won't stop here anymore on my lunch time walk. Tender Greens better deal. Sorry, because the first time I hit this place, super friendly counter service and gave me a bread knot and said review on Yelp (which I did then and now).

If you have a lot of alcohol in your system at 2 in the morning... pizza is delicious. Giving them 4 stars because they pump out fresh pizza's for the post bar crowd. During the day time you have other pizza options, but at 2 in the morning you're probably in between Bar Basic and Ciro's. Ciro's offers slices and a short wait time.

I've been eating Ciro's Pizza for the past three years whenever I go to Comic-Con or am in the Gaslamp district. My girlfriend and I love their pizza. It might not be true New York style pizza, but it's definitely good. Their pizzas are thin (which I like) and very greasy (which I also like). We usually order a whole pizza and they make it on the spot. The longest we've had to wait was probably 30 minutes for a pizza, but the place was fairly crowded that time. Their pizza definitely tastes best fresh from the oven. Once it gets cold, it's not so great. Go there and eat it on the spot.

Since I've relocated to San Diego in 2010, we have yet to find an Outstanding Pizza place to call our all time FAV!!! Ciro's has an AmAzInG white cheese/spinach Pizza and Garlic Bread Balls that set off a delicious explosion of fresh garlic in your mouth!!!! we have a few pizzerias here on Coronado Island but nothing quite compares to Ciros Amazing Pizzas. It also have a cast of friendly employees and comfy eaterie with wide screen TV's...sip a beer while waiting for your Delish Pizza!!!! Hands down, this Pizza is the BomB!!!!!!

Ok, while not a pizza-lover myself, I know enough to know that the slices they serve you at Ciro's is most def. NOT NY-style slices. The slices are more like 1/3 the size of a NY slice--but who am I to complain? My bf and I happened upon Ciro's while walking around the Gaslamp and decided to grab some grub. I was happy to find that they offered more then just pizza! He got a couple slices and 3 garlic knots, and I got spaghetti and meatballs and the zucchini sticks w/ marinara sauce. We sat outside and in about 10 minutes all our food was ready to be devoured. The garlic knots, while incredibly greasy, are like doughy pillows of heaven esp. when dipped in some marinara sauce! The zucchini sticks are deep fried and also serve up the yum. I'm a simple girl with simple tastes--esp. when it comes to my spaghetti sauce, and the sauce at Ciro's really hit the spot for me! They're def. not shy when it came to laying on the sauce, and I absolutely love and appreciate that! As for the pizza? Michael said he enjoyed it, but I was too busy loving my spaghetti to notice. :) Oh and FYI--slices are $2.50, but from 11am-4pm you can get 2 slices and a soda for $5.

I had the pesto/pepperoni/ricotta pizza, which was amazing. I was disappointed, however, when I asked for one slice and the guy made an entire pizza instead, demanding that I pay him $22 for it or leave. I went ahead and bought it because of how good I knew it was, but I really just wanted the one slice. I guess next time I'll write my order down and get it notarized. Still giving four stars because the pizza was so good.

While I dig Ciro's, I would say that it's the fourth-best NYC-style pizza in San Diego, behind 1. Bronx Pizza, 2. Bongiorno's (MIraMesa), and 3.Gaslamp Pizza(a block away). One caveat. The "My Pie". White-stone/Pesto/Peperoni. It's awesome. Try it.

Good place to go after the long night of partying downtown for a quick bite. If you don't mind sloppy drunks waiting in line for pizza, silly intoxicated girls trying to cut in front of you, or loud obnoxious guys.

The pepperoni, pesto, and ricotta slices were great.

You're the DD. You're in the Gaslamp after Cinco de Mayo's chaos. It's 1:30 am and you're trying to keep a group of 5 drunken people together. You feel like a dog-walker without any leashes. All of the drunkees are whining because they want food in their tummies. There is no restaurant open until you pass by Ciro's...behold...my oasis. I bought a whole cheese pizza. Thin-slice. Fresh. I had a slice and was really taken by the flavor, my friends however, were too drunk to taste anything. After everyone consumed 1-2 slices, they were satisfied. Thank you for being there to feed my belligerent friends last night... We finally arrive to my vehicle, everyone gets in and buckles up. Within seconds of driving, all passengers fall asleep & I drive home in peace. Thank you Ciro's.

I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY and raised in New Jersey. This is easily the best pizza in San Diego in my opinion. The crust is crunchy, all the ingredients are fresh, the sauce is perfect..the guys even brought their east coast accents with them. Buying by the slice is better than ordering a whole pie and taking it home. By the time you get there, the crust isn't hard anymore. I try not to go there too much because I'd eat too much and get huge. It would be a fun process though :)

$2.50 a slice after 10:30 pm. Worth it when you're in a drunken stupor.

I LOVE CIRO'S!!! I am the world's pickiest pizza eater and this place hits the spot EVERYTIME. I've been coming here for about five years now. This place is especially great after a night out at Gaslamp! You can't go wrong with the classic pepperoni or the bbq chicken!

Are you walking around the Gaslamp/East Village? Do you feel like a slice? Go here! Period. Great crust, great sauce, great vibe. Is it really that simple? Yes. I've been all over downtown San Diego and this is the best out there. At all hours. Unless Bronx Pizza opens a 92101 location, Ciro's has absolutely nothing to worry about.

Solid Pizza joint with a typical NY/NJ attitude and look & feel. They have what appears to be a dozen huge ovens for cooking up pizzas in mass quantities. They do this to prepare for the influx of patrons around 10pm-2am when the clubs are in action. Sidebar and Stingaree are both affiliated with Ciros, and all in all their management does a great job and seems to run some of the best venues downtown. I like their pizza and give it an above average score for pizza in San Diego. Only complaint is sometimes it's not as consistent as I'd like... but when it's an 'on night', it tastes great!

I just sent to Ciro's Gaslamp location for what I believe to be the last time. I moved into the Gaslamp a about a year ago and was thrilled to see that there was a great pizza place like Ciro's close by. Something happened and maybe you can help me understand what. Over the last month or so, you have lost my business. 2 burnt pizzas and a burnt calzone helped us get to 10 box tops for a free pizza. I placed the order at 4:09 and was told it would be 20 minutes (which i have learned means at least 25). My wife walked in and was told hostilely by the person behind the counter that he had been there all day and no order had come in. This took me from disenfranchised to absolutely livid. Help me understand how your establishment has fallen so far so fast. Please.

I live in denial about food handling, but the cashier picking his nose in front of us WHILE he handled my money and went straight for handling the slices was hard to deny. I'm hard to gross out. The pizza wasn't THAT bad, but the guy was so over his job, I'll never go back.

DRUNK ME DOWNTOWN = CRAVING PIZZA. This hits the spot. While it's not Bronx Pizza or even Hoboken, it does fill a need: to feed drunkies at 2am downtown. It's pretty damn good too though I can't attest to it sober. I am sure though that drunk me still has decent enough taste buds to know bad pizza when I taste it. Anyways going here know this: usually a line, usually people in here are drunk, and usually a fight may break out as drunk men sometimes get angry if someone cuts in front of them in line for pizza. But then again sometimes there are no fights and it's just a room full of happy drunks waiting for pizza. Really how can you go wrong with NY style pizza at 2am? What is not to like?

The first time I tried Ciro's, I took a whole Ciro's Special back with me. It was a little undercooked. After showing up 10 mins after calling my order in I was surprised that they took the pie out as soon as I checked in to pay for the pizza. Maybe the kid behind the counter got nervous and didn't want me to wait. Anyway, the pizza was a little soggy since the thin crust didn't get a chance to crisp up. The second time, I went back in to try the 2 slices + 1 drink $6.00 lunch special. Although the pizza was much better this time around, it is still not as good as Bronx's. update 5/2 - thoroughly enjoyed the meatlover's pizza. excellent crust, they cooked it to perfection this time around!

  • Abbe A.

Bad service...they sometimes restrict your ability to order whole pies. Not the most authentic "NY Style Pizza". The clientele can be kind of sketchy. Hold onto your purse!

  • Ameer N.

i was pretty impressed with this slice as we meandered downtown san diego in need of a quick snack. the crust was nice and crispy but not crunchy. perfect place for a pit stop.

  • Legal C.

This place is even better than the much quoted "Bronx" pizza (which is very good). It seems to be slightly less greasy *plus* and there is not the same line that you get at Bronx. Very reasonable: two slices and a drink for $6.00 ...the crust is thin but not so thin as to be flimsy, and it is crispy yet chewy and has a sweetness to it. The sauce is ripe and sweet and the cheese ratio perfect. Open until at least midnight and 2 am on Fri and Sat to accomodate late night cravers and drunkards that need to get a little grub. Happy eats!

  • Richie E.

This place is great and now that they've renovated the place you have a pretty comfy place to chill inside. I like that the employees at Ciro's too. They recognize their regulars. Pizza is very tasty and cheap. I've noticed that when I buy a large pizza by the box it taste better if you bake it in your oven for about 5 minutes or so. I like my pizza crispy so that's why I do that. And it taste exactly like when they put their slices in their oven.

  • G B.

The next time I have 40 minutes to wait for meh food in an empty pizza place, I'll go to Ciro's again. They do get one star for playing David Bowie the whole time I watched them stand around and not make our food.

    (2)
  • Christopher H.

Really good pizza. Steve, one of the managers, took care of us after there was a problem with our delivery order. Delivery is not particularly fast, but worth the wait.

    (4)
  • Cabby C.

The problem here is the inconsistency. Pizza on a Wednesday can look and taste COMPLETELY different than the one a Saturday. Sometimes the crust is a little bit charred and crispy ( the way I like it ) and sometimes it looks uncooked and is extremely chewy/doughy ( meh ). When done right, Ciro's IMHO is the best pizza in SD. The other 80% of the time, it's just meh.

    (3)
  • Chris V.

I've finally had a decent east coast style NY pizza here in SD. The other night we were playing poker (poker, I barely knew her...ok, it's too early for bad jokes). Anyway, my cousin brought over a few pies from this joint. They were exactly like the ones back home. Thin crust, just the right combo of sauce and cheese, and some great pepperoni. Yum a dum dum indeed. Been searching for a good slice ever since we've been here and I finally found one.

  • Chad C.

The people behind the counter are personable, friendly characters making downtown great! I feel bad I don't know there names. The pizza is REALLY good. Get it by the slice or a whole pie and pay tribute to the wall of the fallen heroes from 9/11. I cannot say anything bad. It is also a great place to hang outside on the patio on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night and watch people. This is a five star place that enhances the Gaslamp/East Village neighborhoods. the Mayor

Your typical pizza by the slice. Sitting in a glass cabinet until you ask for it to be re-heated. Nothing special. During my visit I had a slice of mushroom and a caesar salad. Dressing was good. While I sat and ate my pizza, much to my chagrin, I noted that the guy making the pizzas, before he put them in the oven, would raise the dough and blow into the pizza. He did this with all of them. Is this normal pizza making behavior? It kind of grossed me out even though my friends said it wouldn't matter since it would be baked. I won't need to go back. I like Basic much better and if they blow on their pizzas, it's at least back in the kitchen where I can't see it.

Im sure this place is good... But it seems to be that everytime I come here, its stumbled upon on a fun night home from gas lamp. However, always hits the spot when I do make it over. The veggie pizzas are pretty tasty, and I will have to say the staff couldn't be more friendlier considering their late hours and crazy drunk patrons.. Definitely a place to check out for your late night pizza fix.

so after a long night of downtown boozing my buddy suggested we find some pizza. i found that to be a fucktacular idea. so we stumbled across market and landed in front ciro's. the line was long. but thats expected since its 2am on a saturday morning. so i was pretty pumped. what a dissapointment. you know when youre tanked pretty much anything greasy will taste like heaven. this pizza has to be the exception. there was no sauce on my pizza! i was walking down the street asking everyone. "why is there no goddamn sauce on my pizza!!" of course i slammed down 3 slices. what can i do. i was dronky. i was hungry. i didnt pay for it. oh well. 1 star. because the sauce is my favorite ingredient in a PIZZA!!!

Ciro's improved itself admirably, adding tons of seating and plenty of staff to turn your money into slices of pizza quickly. A cheap, reliable standby in downtown

Final Decision: I think Bronx Pizza and Gaslamp pizza are far better places... So we were taking a lunch break during Comic-Con and wanted some pizza. Gaslamp would be ideal spot, but we had a big group and need seating, so we found this spot. Normally pizza joints have the usual service of people that like to get you in and get you out so they can keep the bucks rollin'. But seriously , if you feel like getting NY attitude, come here. The girl at the register and the girl that took our order really dropped a big fat attitude when both me and my friends tried to put in our order. We decided on the two slice and soda combo and literally pointed to the slices of pizza we wanted. They snapped and requested for us to repeat our order and waited while they tried to catchup. Seriously, in a period of time when customer service is the focus of most business, this place was not. And its funny b/c its Comic-Con, the place should be staffed accordingly and this has been the 2nd restaurant that we have been to that has not been prepared for the crowds. Sure the price you can't beat, but pizza was not even exceptional or noteworthy, because I couldn't even remember what I had. Definitely not one of my first places to go get a pie.

    (2)
  • Jessie S.

Perfect pizza! Two slices and a fountain drink for six dollars, not bad. Fresh & plentiful toppings, perfectly foldable crust, yummmmy. I wish the place was larger though, after Comic Con it filled up pretty fast, I had people hovering over me while I ate waiting for me to be finished and take my seat. I wish there was one up in Culver, I'd be here every day.

    (4)
  • Crissy K.

Good variety of slices at about $2.50. They come up quick and hot and you can enjoy eating them in the new sitting area. Salads are pretty good too. I often get a large pizza delivered, sometime the cheese slides across the pizza-- hazard of downtown delivery I guess.

    (4)
  • Nikki W.

I went to Ciro's for late lunch with coworkers. The service is not very good. 2 of us are blind, so we asked the cashier to describe the menu. He bluntly said "ones in the rack." We told him that we couldn't see. He gave quick rundown. Then we asked about drinks. He again said "oh the drinks are over there." All and all, we had to keep reminding him that we were blind and couldn't see. Not customer service oriented; I understand it if it was busy, but the restaurant was almost empty at 1pm on Friday. The pizza was OK, needs more sauce and cheese. Delivery from Ciro's is better because they make it fresh.

Good, fresh tasting thin crust and unique topping options. Happy with our selection of chicken and ranch. Had delivery to the hotel so can't comment on the staff or atmosphere.

Visited Ciro's yesterday while in the area for both the Jazz festival and the Padres/Cubs game. I had the thin crusted, Meatball pizza and the Sicilian. Both slices were as just as average as the other pizza joints in the area. Service was prompt and professional. It was a very busy day, and they were able to get everyone moving briskly. The bathroom was clean as well as the tables. I will come back to Ciro's. They have friendly people over there.

  • Brian M.

$6 for two slices and a drink - it was great. plus they were playing some of my favorite music (zep, floyd, etc). i'd say this is the best NY-style pizza in downtown.

  • jon w.

After getting a terrible attitude from the guy behind the counter(dennis i think) we finally got our pizza and not only were we dissapointed in the taste but there was a hair in it. We were so put off by the whole experiance that we just left. Do yourself a favor and save yourself some heartache do not go to Ciros. There are too many good pizza places around to waste you time on negative attitudes and low quality contaminated food!! ZERO STARS

  • Yui K.

Umm... it's really NOT new york style pizza.. don't really know why they call it that. But in downtown San Diego, 2 slices & a fountain soda for $6 isn't all that bad. Pizza tastes decent enough, but they tricked me. I wanted NY pizza... all I got was a Cali-fied version of it.

    (2)
  • Albert C.

Solid New York-style pizza, both the traditional soft/thin crust and the thicker Sicilian style. Good variety, inexpensive, and the taste really hit the spot after a long day driving down to San Diego. They don't have much seating, though, and MS and I were forced to eat standing on the street corner instead. (Caveat: I'm not a big pizza fan and when I do crave it, it's usually the Chicago styles.)

    (3)
  • Bruce W.

I love Ciro's pizza. They've got different and interesting slices. Their buffalo chicken special is out of this world. I also enjoy their iced green tea. Their pizza is always the right amount of crispy and replete with deliciousness.

  • Tania N.

meh. i wasn't impressed. the pizza lacked something. yes, it lacked the fact that i wasn't stupid drunk and needing food! haha the service was terrible, but not because of the cashier, but because of the manager and his 2 stooges having a heart attack because they were missing cash and pretty much blaming the NEW cashier and giving a big middle finger to the customers that were waiting in line to purchase some food. Poor cashier needed a manager override and the manager wouldn't do it. What an asswipe. Won't go back sober.

I have been meaning to try this place for a while now, but had yet to make it by when I was in the mood for some pizza. After the second version of movie and a brewski I got my chance to finally try it. We got to Hard Rock too late, so they weren't serving food anymore. What they were serving was plenty of drinks. On the walk back to the car, I was in need of some greasy pizza to soak up a bit of alcohol, plus I was starving!. Ciro's did the trick. No line, just a cool guy from Watertown, Mass serving up some tasty thin crust slices of pie. Yummy! I like Bronx slightly better, but only slightly.

Great Spinach and Feta slice and White pizza slice. Vibe was good and the employees were friendly. A nice little suprise of a pizza joint.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon. They had a wide selection of pizza available, and all looked very appetizing. I ordered one slice of pepperoni, which they somehow lost half of. Nonetheless, they gave me my half slice of pepperoni, and another full slice for free. As for the pizza, I was surprisingly pleased as most of the pizza that San Diego has to offer is not something I would feed a dog. This place is very solid and I would definitely go back.

  • Nicole Q.

After years of working in downtown, I used to pass by Ciro's on a daily basis without ever trying it. I had Ciro's the other night for the first time at an event I attended. The pizza was great. It was nice and thin and the toppings were flavorful. And I actually ate the crust (I never eat the crust on most pizzas). Their pizza is also pretty big, so one slice is enough to fill you up--unless you have a large appetite.

  • Jimmy J.

Not even close 2 a real slice of NY pizza. Have any of the owners ever been to NY and had a slice? I would like to say it's just good ol pizza but its way too inconsistent "ok" at it's best. I just stopped by last week after a move with my GF who just moved here from the city (NY) last month and thought I would give it one more try "oops" my GF laughed after she took her first bite comparing it 2 cardboard and I had to agree. Crust bad sauce bland. It's not that I want to hate pizza in SD it's just that know-one can seem to get it right. Stick to gaslamp pizza if u want a slice late night it's not perfect but better.

    (2)
  • Ling H.

I was completely sober at 1AM on a Saturday night in the Gaslamp district as we stumbled upon Ciro's. Pizza prices are reasonable especially if you consider the ingredients on the pizza. I ordered the cheese with tomato (which may have been Heirlooms, YUM) whilst my two other friends ordered a cheese and Hawaiian pizza respectively. I did not get a chance to try the cheese only, but the Hawaiian pizza was decent (high praise coming from me because I normally do not care for Hawaiian). It was topped with goat cheese! Very interesting indeedy... It's a deal if you get 2 slices and a fountain drink for $6! The only con was that there weren't many places to sit down because tables were all full even though it was "early" Saturday night. I would hate to see what the place looks like after club hours, but all I know is that late night pizza runs are always the best and I can't find any in San Jose. Bummer...

    (4)
  • patrick m.

absolutely amazing pizza. the 2 slice + drink for $6 deal is a hit. awesome selection, fast service - only complaint, is that you have to spend at least $10 to avoid a small service fee if you're paying with your card.. i rarely ever carry cash anymore, so this just a reminder to swing by an ATM first if you're anything like me.

Good tasting thin crust pizza but terrible delivery service. First time our order was lost and finaly delivered after repeated calls, 2 hours late. We had a Living Social coupon, so tried delivery again. This time it came within an hour but was barely warm and mashed into the side of the box. Called & the Manager said he was sorry. The owner needs to know that his staff really slacks off and is losing local customers.

this place would probably get an extra half to a full star if the guy behind the counter wasn't so mean. my friends and i came here last night after the yelp elite party at voyeur. i had a slice of the pesto with red onion pizza, two friends had regular pesto and another friend had a sicilian style slice. the pizza is pretty good and not a bad deal for 2.75 a slice. the guy who took our order seemed like he had a stick up his ass. unnecessary attitude towards everyone. i hope that he woke up on the right side of the bed today, otherwise anyone who comes into this establishment today is in for a treat, not the good kind.

    (3)
  • Matthew G.

A solid New York style pizza, far better than Bronx Pizza, better tasting bread, and ingredients all-around. Try the calzone, SO not healthy, but once in a while is great; nice place to hit during Comic Con or before or after a movie. Staff couldn't be friendlier.

  • Zach J.

Ciro's is a block and a half from my apartment. I have a meal here at least once a week. It's a great place to stop for a quick slice or two. Pretty affordable. After hours it's hella packed, as are all the food spots in the area.

  • Shawna H.

Very disappointed!!! We stopped ordering from here about 2 years ago because they were so horrible, but somehow made the mistake of ordering pizza tonight. Not only did the pizza take over an hour to arrive but it was extremely cold and the crust was hard as a rock. We ended up throwing the pizza away. Never again!!!

    (1)
  • Theresa F.

Being it was our first time to the Gaslamp District and we didn't want to walk the extra block from our hotel to Gaslamp Pizza, we went to Ciros. We ordered the "special" and were told it was going to take about 15-20 minutes with all of the orders ahead of us. We were cool with that, we figured people liked the pizza and that was a good sign there were orders. Our mistake. We came back after 20 minutes and the ovens were empty and they hadn't even started making our pizza yet. By the time we DID get our pizza, it was a whole hour later and we starving. With all that time wasted we could've walked the extra block and got 2 pizzas from Gaslamp Pizza. The pizza itself was just ok, nothing mind-blowing at all. I'm very sad that we wasted 20 bucks and one hour of our time for just a so-so pizza. Lesson: Go the extra mile for what you want, or in this case, the extra block.

  • Paulo A.

I am not sure about this place. I have only ate here once sober and it sucked. Every other time I ate there I have been pretty wasted but remember it being delicious. I know the slices are pre cooked then re-heated so maybe that was the problem. Not sure if my sober experience was just a miss so I will definitely have to go back sober to make a final opinion of this place.

We headed to this pizza place for dinner during Comic-Con primarily to see the decor. It had been taken over, floor-to-ceiling, by Cartoon Network's Adventure Time. There was also supposed to be a custom Jake plush free with purchase, but it turned out that this wasn't the case at dinnertime. There's a big menu just inside the entrance, and it was themed with a character from the show: Lumpy Space Princess. We attempted to order from it and were told that the kitchen was closed -- only pizza and chicken wings were available. The staff was not friendly or helpful, and only grudgingly answered questions. We ordered a couple of slices of pepperoni pizza and they were decent, but not satisfying. I couldn't believe it when the receipt they handed us had space for a tip -- really?

    (2)
  • Rob M.

Seriously the worst pizza we have ever tried to eat. We ordered the Capistrano and when it arrived it had no/little sauce, burnt soggy crust and the whole pizza was cold. We threw it out and ordered Chinese.

    (1)
  • Lindsay L.

The only times I've eaten Ciro's was when I was drunk, so in my drunken mind, it was good....pretty convenient considering there aren't many places to get food downtown at 2 AM. Definitely not worth it if you're the one who has to wait in line for it though...the space is tiny and full of annoying girls who fall down a lot.

  • kelly n.

The pizza is great but the staff is rude. Second time in 6 months I have gone, with friends and once with family. Gentleman behind counter needs to learn to not be so rude to customers and needs to appreciate them before his busness is gone! I am a business owner and would never treat my customers like that, (maybe that is why my restuarant has been in the same location for 15 years and doing well! Take a lesson young man, with your attitude your days are numbered!

    (1)
  • James M.

We didn't even get to the food: We walked in and asked whether or not we sat ourselves - we were visiting from out-of-town and didn't know if there was a wait-person or not. The man behind the counter didn't even lookup from what he was doing and we were rudely told that 'We're not going to serve you, you order at the counter.' With that attitude I'll take my money elsewhere! NOT friendly service...Can't speak to the food since we turned right around and walked out, but it looked ordinary at BEST.

Pathetic. A group of 6 paying customer walks into your pizza place around 2PM, and you refuse to let use a bathroom. KISS MY ASS. I heard this and in the middle of ordering my pizza i told him cancel it and shove it. I'll take my business elsewhere, i dont know who they think they are. Prisoners get to use the bathroom, and customers cant.... WELL THEN.

My fave late night drunken pizza. But it is also good when sober. I love to come here with all my friends after a night of bars or clubs. The drunker we are, the further we seem to hike it in our heels to make it here. The cravings start at about, hmm..midnight, and then everyone makes little comments about it. Then, it's time to leave around 1:30. Yum. Tons of hot yummy thin crust NY pizza to choose from. Never disappoints.

recently got back from NY and boston and though pizza was everywhere and was really good, this place sticks out as THE BEST pizza!!! but it may be because we visited so many bars before we arrived here..... and it was 3am...... and we were starving..... and the line was off the hook......... and when we finally got our freshly made whole pizza with cheese and sauce oozing off the piping hot piece it seemed like forever......... and it was de-lish!! but i think it will be just as good if i was sober too.....

  • Anthony L.

This place is so, so at best. The pizza isn't good and it doesn't taste anything like NYC pizza. If your hungry after partying and you need something to eat I can see going here. I can't see waiting in a long line for plan tasting pizza. Just my .02 cents

    (1)
  • Daniel D.

This is the best slice of pizza after a night of bar-hopping, if you're someone who doesn't live downtown. Average at best. For the best slice, try Gaslamp, just a few blocks down.

The good thing about this place is it's open late, which is convenient for those who are craving something to eat right after leaving clubs/bars. Slices are HUGE! One slice can literally fill you up. Friendly and fast service. Lines can be really long around 1 am. Limited seating outside so be prepared to stand or just order it to go! I gave it a 4 star just because the place is so small.

Ok, We hadn't been to Ciro's in a while and tonight we were CRAVING IT. We wanted some good, thin crust pizza. After many a drunken night in downtown, Ciro's was our Los Panchos, and we wanted to revisit that oh so pleasant comfort food memory. Tonight we ordered some pizza for pick up - sober night for us- and well, as the two stars represent, Meh, I've experienced better. The service: Still the same, friendly service as I remember. Extremely pleasant staff on the phone and in person, and our pizza was ready exactly when they said it would be. Off to a great start! The order: Ciro's Special The price: Well... the menu online says it $16. I was charged $19. Hmph... I was in rush to grab it and go because Scott was waiting in the car for me- but i paused and thought, "maybe i read it wrong online???" (no, i'm right, I just checked it!) I didn't say anything!!! argh. Who cares, I was hungry and I was CRAVING it. The pizza: Ummm, it didn't taste nearly as good as I "remembered" it. It has zero flavor- crust was half cracker, half soggy! yuck. And the base "sauce" - bland. The whole time Scott told me, " we should have gone to Basic". He was right. Consensus: Unless you're needing to sober up, Ciro's is a good foot-distance option. If you're sober- don't bother! The only reason we gave two stars is because the staff rocked - they deserve more stars, but the pizza... 0.5 Does it taste good cold: No.

Desperate moment...decent pizza. Will stop again in another desperate moment.

i've eaten their pizza three times in two weeks. it tastes good and is like the slices i buy in nyc when i'm at home. it is as expensive as it would be in nyc and even a little bit more. you can pick up random wi-fi from the hostel across the street too. i was looking at some pictures of some flowers. or not flowers, but of iceplant. if you're in the gaslamp, then my opinion is to eat here.

    (4)
  • Todd A.

I love the pizza here, but their advertising is bs. i live 3 blocks away and if you call after 8pm they refuse to deliver. Their menu and website aren't accurate. If you actually want to get a pizza, go somewhere else.

  • Nathan H.

Ciro's is definitely NOT New York Style pizza. But, its still good. Especially after a night of lushin' it up around the Gaslamp. But if you get there right around 2am, expect a long wait...a looooong wait. Like maybe up to 30 minutes...just cause everyone knows about this spot. Everyone is basically hammered and hungry so people are a little testy. LOL. But, its definitely a fun, good laugh people watching spot while you wait.

    (3)
  • Richard C.

Ciro's hits the spot, whether it's 10pm after a Padres game, or 2am after leaving some Gaslamp club wondering why the hell I treat my body so badly. The earlier the better for this place, otherwise the line is long as hell, but at least you have entertainment in that instance. The pizza. Well, it's nothing to rave home about, but it's greasy, it's cheesy, the sauce is tangy, and the range of toppings is plentiful. Two slices set you back $4-5. Frankly, that's all I need. The white pizzas (with ricotta) have definitely been my favorite lately. It's all good.

I moved out here from NYC 2 years ago and there are really one a few pizza places I will eat at here in SD - this is one of them, and the chefs are imported straight from the city! Great Pizza, inexpensive, open really late, and attached to side bar.

  • Sarah S.

decent place. good seating. friendly staff. not a big fan of their logo, but it's super cute how they have their menu on those pizza baker tray things. They have a drink and two slices of pizza special for $6-7 i forget, which is a good deal! had the pesto something. not greasy & thin crust, aint to shabby if you ask me.

Late night in San Diego can be difficult, our craving tonight was satisfied by slices of warm pizza goodness. The place is still busy at 1am, doing a fairly good amount of business with the nearby bars closing. The pizza itself was very good. The place was a little dirty (even for a hole-in-the-wall kinda establishment). The staff was very friendly, upbeat and tolerant (I don't know if I could work a job that required dealing with 100's of drunks by the time the night is through). The service was fast and efficient. Definitely good eats.

  • Michael S.

Very yummy pizza downtown. We get a pack of pies from this place for our company meetings and everyone is happy when we do it. The pizzas are thin crust with fresh ingridents. Lunch specials include two slices and a foutain drink for $6. Some have said the service is a bit rude, but they just want you make up your mind before you hold up the line. Nothing wrong with that. :)

I think this is the best pizza slice that I've had in all of California. Its paper thin with all of the right flavors. Perfect for a rickshaw ride back to the hotel after a night out.

Love ciros pizza...I am orginally from New York and when I get cravings for the thin sliced NYC Style pizza, there is no better place to go then here.

  • Sean L.

you can't go wrong with ciro's. the line gets a little insane at the end of the night, but for good reason. plenty of pies by the slice, all kinds of variations ready to go. a great spot for some pizza any time of the day.

  • Sagruilla P.

Good, fresh pizza by the slice. There is outdoor seating away from the uber-trendy meatmarket known as the gaslamp district.

this place has its uses. mainly a place to get something to soak up alcohol at 2 am. i've been here sober a couple of times and i wasn't that impressed. don't get me wrong, it's definitely edible and the price is right. but if you're looking for good food and not just something to feed your drunk ass as you stumble home, there are better places to go.

i'm from New Jersey and i've been in san diego since 2006 and have been searching for new york style pizza!!! So many places claim to have it but have failed to meet my needs....this was the closest ive found yet!or maybe i was just really hungry lol! still gonna continue my search....

im from New York and how dare this place call themselves NY STYLE...anything but!! the worst quality pizza I have ever had in SD. And the crustt taste like it came out of a microwave.

  • Jerry L.

Stopped for lunch and enjoyed the NY style thin crust pizza. At lunch they have a varied selection of pizza's, precooked and waiting for your order. Once you select your slices they will heat the pizza in the oven. Okay service, but you don't go for a slice for the service, with a small seating area out front.

I can't resist $2 slices. Have tried various slices and all have been good. Free garlic knots a plus. Great HH deals and other weekly specials.

Beer was cold and the pizza awsome. Not having been there before, the employees were helpful in making suggestions. The hot wing pizza was a big hit. Very kid friendly in the early afternoon.

Ciros is one of the few places I would actually go back to in San Diego (Sorry SoCal but avocados don't belong on pizza). I love the "My Pie". Generally never wait more than 20 minutes for pick up but the service can be pretty rough at times. A simple "thanks" would go a long way on the phone, just say'n. Though first impressions could be improved, the pizza is still solid.

Defenetly one of the best pizza places I´ve tried in the US. Great and fast service. Friendly staff. And good taste compared to far most American pizzas. Definitely worth a try!

Okay, came in here for a bite to eat because 1.) A Hangry boyfriend is an annoying boyfriend 2.) Had time to spare before my interview. These combinations equal one amazing dining experience. The pesto pizza was so so so so so sooooo good. I was a little worried when I saw that is was already made, but they don't just give it to you that way, nor do they "pop" it in a microwave. They literally put it back in the oven. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT

Stopped in during a business trip to the Gas Lamp District. We couldn't decide on what to eat so we picked the first place that looked interesting. Very glad we did. Our group ( 10-12 people) sat down and ordered drinks. I wanted to try something different so I tried their sparkling coconut water with lemon. I forget the name of it, "Hangover cure" or something. It was really, really good. I actually asked how to make it and I drink them at home all the time now. Waitress told us the specials and that there was a coupon for the garlic bread knots on Yelp. I jumped on, checked in and proceeded to double my knot order for free. Pizza and Knots were amazing. Ciro's is keeping San Diego "Classy" as Ron Burgundy would say. Can't wait to eat here again.

Conveniently located near the heart of Gaslamp and next door to Sidebar, Ciro's is the perfect spot for pizza after a night of drunken or not so drunken debauchery. Ciro's claims to make New York style pizza...in fact, the original owners are from New York. However, if you've ever been to NYC and eaten real New York thin crust pizza (think Ray's... there's only one original Ray's), then you'll know that there's something slightly off about Ciro's NY style pizza. Nonetheless, this place still satisfies the munchies at 1:50am. I had Ciro's during the day a few times... not quite as satisfying. A friend from Brooklyn claims Ciro's is the closest to New York style pizza that he's had in San Diego. I beg to differ.

Decided to take a stroll downtown and stop by a couple clothing shops. During my journey I came across Ciro's and thought, "Well...I haven't had a pizza in a while". And thus, my review begins. I walk in and am greeted. The guy asks me what I want to eat and I start looking...they had about 7-10 topping choices and I went to the one with mushrooms and the one with spinach. Two slices + a drink is their special: $6.50. The one with spinach was okay...the one with mushrooms was delicious. I probably should've went with the "hawaiian" style - I love pineapples. I sat, ate, and watched ESPN on the TV. I would like to come back and try other items on their menu though. A-OK from my point of view.

Yes, the BEST thing about this place is that it's always open on a late night in the Gas Lamp... and YES they have beers on tap that go down nicely with each bite. Pizza's are okay, but even better that they're briefly toasted in the oven right before they're served.. when you're buzzin' already, that taste kicks it up a notch. They've always had a good diversity of different pies; anyone with ricotta topping is recommended. Its location is cool because you can sit on the patio and people watch all the douche bags and half nekkid 21 years old, making fun of them yet remembering when you were walking in their uncomfortably high-heeled shoes. Prices are decent as well. Service for me has always been friendly enough; I've never experienced the issues fellow yelpers have. So yuuup... next time I find myself in the Gas Lamp, I'll likely stop by again if I need a quick bite.

Awesome slices and an unbeatable happy house special (3-6) for only $2 a slice. They have a great combo for any two slices and a beer for $9. Highly recommend the margarita and BBQ chicken slices.

Every time we come to San Diego my kids wants to eat at this place. You can get two slices of thin crust pizza with a fountain drink for $6.50 or two slices and a beer for $8.00. The pizza is a little better than decent. This seems to be a popular spot for all the party goers...and my kids. I guess if you want a quick decent meal after a night of partying this place may satisfy your taste buds.

Yum! We were drinking and started getting hungry. My friend randomly found a pizza place nearby that delivered. We were surprised they delivered as late as it was, but it came fast and boy was it delicious! I'd blame it on the alcohol, but I just had another slice this morning... still good! My friends agreed too! They had something meaty. I had a veggie. Didn't hold back on the toppings. Bought us plenty of cheese, spice, and paper plates!!! Thin crust. I'm in love!

    (4)
  • Michelle H.

Probably the most cordial people I've ever dealt with! Order delivery from them, the pizza is really good too. I suggest buffalo chicken or chicken cutlet.

Not sure how they keep up with the ridiculous line that is constantly out the door but the pizza is good (thin but a good sized slice) and tastes even better at 2am. Wish they had more "cheese free" options for those of us who don't do dairy but i guess we are the small minority. Pablo does a good job running the place and everyone is pretty friendly, especially given that they are dealing with drunks most hours of the day...

Top Notch for me. Being from the east coast this is what it is about. Don't come here expecting something fancy, they reheat the slices from pies already made, but it way better than others in the area. They have a great variety of pizza's and a good amount of space, and it is a clean place. The one thing that got me was the garlic knots they are charging far to much for them. Here is the tip, if you live in north county and your going to a Padres game, Catch the train early down, walk a couple of blocks up get yourself two slices of pizza and a beer for 7.50 and then go to the game. This is my little tradition.

Gave this place a try on a late night in the Gaslamp Quarter.....ordered a Slice of Pepperoni Pizza well-done. yelp.com/biz_photos/SbQ9… yelp.com/biz_photos/SbQ9… They pre-cook the Pizza and store it on racks, then re-heat it when you order a Slice. I'm not a fan of this type of Pizza, but when you're bar-hopping, you lower your standards. The Pizza was not too good. The Crust was like cardboard and the Pizza didn't have much flavor....bland. Disappointing. Return Factor - 10%

I dont even know why i bother eating 'peetza' in San Diego (or anywhere outside NY/CT). If not for the comedy routine from the guy Gino workin there, it would be one star. Thats sarcasm, with a dude like that greeting customers; its surprising that they even have any customers at all!

Swung by Ciro's after bar hopping Saturday night. Now I know a lot of peeps raved about the pizza before going there and I thought it was good, but I wouldn't say it was out of this world. To give context, I'm a huge fan of New York style pizza and always on the look out for the best. What I think they got right was, the crust was thin, light sauce, and a decent amount of cheese. Were they can improve: better marinara sauce, don't over cook the crust. So far the only place that makes nearly authenticate new york style pizza is a whole in the wall place in Cupertino, called 212 new york pizza. Anyways, I'll definitely be back on my next trip to San Diego. Also, great idea having the full pizza pies ready to go late night after the bars close. Saved everyone time!!!!

My sons & I agree with those who rated "Ciro's" as having the best pizza in San Diego. It's actually NY-style pizza at its best. My husband & I shortly will be visiting San Diego from our home in Hawaii. Our sons are jealous we will be in the Gaslamp Quarter, able to order Ciro's Pizza ... and they will not. ;D Mahalo!

Stopped in today to grab a quick bite and found a great little pizza place with a great vibe. I enjoyed the food and had a blast watching that funny man Matt spreading that sauce nice and even. He makes the best pizza. Not only that, the way he flips that dough . . . Majestic. I'll definitely be coming back

This is Good walk up Pizza! Your not in the place for the decor or ambiance... Just like it should be... Walk up, order your pizza and a beer and find a spot to sit down and eat it outside... fast, inexpensive and GOOD! I think everyone in downtown is looking for a sit down and get comfortable place, that's not what a NY pizza place is... it's a walk up, get it and go... And this place fits the bill to a "T". I'll be back for more...

  • Jen G.

Decent lunch special - 2 slices of pizza and a fountain soda for $6.50. They have a good variety of pizzas to choose from. My main issue is they charge a 50 cent fee to pay with a credit card...but they don't tell you that until after running the card!

    (3)
  • Nick W.

Convenient spot for a slice or two before heading out downtown to a game or bar hopping- even better after some drinks too. Try the garlic knots- delicious.

Pizza is ok but pricey and small. A smallish cheese slice will run you $3.50, forget about folding it like a New Yorker cus it would look like a little taco if you did. Flavor was good but not great and could have used a bit more cheese. They advertise craft cocktails here but the bar was unmanned and about as big as a small coat closet.

I stopped at Ciro's early one evening for a slice of pizza about two weeks ago. Wow, I expected better from a restaurant that specializes in pizza. In fact, this is the first time I have experienced below average food in Downtown San Diego. The restaurant was also a little dirty and had a sour smell. Service was OK. I think the primary reason Ciro's is staying in business is due to the late-night-drunk-crowd-munchies. There are several other pizza places within easy walking distance of Ciro's. If you're sober, I recommend going elsewhere to satisfy your pizza craving.

Best pizza in San Diego. I ate 3 pieces and could of ate more if i allowed myself. I got the tomato basil with ricotta and the buffalo wing with ranch. Um delicious!!! My new favorite spot!

  • Cecilia S.

Your typical pizza joint, but the thing that makes it so awesome is that it's located conveniently in the middle of Gaslamp - perfect way to fulfill my munchies after a long night of drinking. The service isn't great, and the pizza is very average, but it totally hits the spot. Warning though - there are no bathrooms and just be careful when you take your first bite of the pizza. I was drunk *guilty* and totally impatient, so I took a huge first bite. BAD IDEA! I burned the roof of my mouth and didn't taste anything for about a week. Also, there's not a lot of space to sit. It's not a huge place, so it does get packed pretty quickly - especially once all the clubs/bars close. Just grab and go!

  • Katherine V.

Never again!!! Terrible service and awful pizza. (The only reason I ate it was because I was drunk and hungry.) I would give 0 stars if I could. My roommate, friends, and I went to this place after a clubbing at Hard Rock on a Friday night and my roommate said this place was good to satisfy our hunger. UH, NO! The pizza slices we got was so oily and the bread was still doughy! How could they go wrong with thin crust?! I bet they were rushing to put out the pizzas because they had a huge line, but we all could have died with that raw dough! I also tried to get some stools from one end to the other since no one was using them and all of my gfs wanted to sit down from dancing all night in heels, but their "security guard" (he didn't even look like a security guard) stopped me then went on to talk to some guys who looked like his friends. He wouldn't even answer why I couldn't move them. Jerk. Not only that, but I checked in to get the free garlic knots and when we got to the counter they said they ran out. I said to them we can wait since it was a Yelp deal and we were hungry, but the cashier just took our money and shooed us away. Geez what terrible service and crappy pizza. If they are going to have these check-in deals they better be prepared to have it! I will never go here again even when I'm drunk and hungry. I would rather go to the 7-Eleven.

With three locations in San Diego, Ciro's is probably doing pretty well for itself. On several occasions I have found myself craving pizza and on most occasions, Ciro's fits the bill. They serve pizza by the slice as well as whole pies, and unlike Gaslamp Pizza nearby, they actually have room for seating inside. They also have a little more variety with their toppings but they do charge you a little more than nearby places. Frequented by the late night party-goers, it's not a bad place to people watch either. And be sure to stop by during Comic Con - they normally give this place a pretty awesome makeover. Something to nosh on late at night is a good thing, especially if you have very little cash left from a night out. Pizza is just merely alright, but it's pretty cheap for a slice. But, having to deal with stumbling, loud, obnoxious drunks who crash into you and look at you as if it were YOUR fault? I don't think so. Best hit up this place, before the drunkards arrive.

  • Lindsay D.

The service has been horrible every time I've gone here for munchies. The employees were rude and acted like they did not want to serve me and my friends. Sure, we were a little tipsy after drinking in downtown all day, but we were friendly, hungry, paying customers. Come on--you are located in downtown, you should be used to drunkies! We went in there happy and ready to continue our good time and left feeling like we could not have gotten out of there sooner. Food is good, but I highly suggest the employees here take a few pointers from those who work at the PB location.

Love this place! The pizza, the cheese steaks, trivia, and well selected craft beers are always a treat. Plus, the owner, Kenny, is such a great guy and cares a lot about his business. It shows. See you soon Ciro's!

If you're gonna go here just buy a fresh pizza, because slices on Fri/Sat nights look like retired MMA fighters faces. However, they taste amazing still, just astetically speaking they look a bit disgruntled. The staff at ciro's are quick and friendly and professional, working their way through a long line without hassle. I respect that because that's the New York side of Pizza that most people don't understand on the west coast. Order your shit and keep moving, that's the NY way. I got a few slices of Pepperoni and they were delciously made; you can tell the difference between microwaved pizza (berkely) and properly made pizza. The ambiance is chill at this location and their is plenty of seating; they spaced this place out well. It's a great place to kick back late hours and sober up with some substantial carb intake. Good place, good pizza, good prices, hard to beat.

Ciro's 1 of my 3 favorite places for pizza in San Diego. Who doesn't love pizza? I for one love it whether for lunch, dinner or even for a slice (or two) after one too many drinks after enjoying the nightlife we all know and love in San Diego ;) Located in the Gaslamp area of San Diego, Ciro's offers opinion, the food is even better than the photos depict. They also have daily specials, find Ciro's on facebook to view these specials. Enjoy!

I was walking down the street, felt a bit hungry so I went in to grab a slice of pizza. Randomly pointed my finger at the veggie pizza. The guy puts it in the oven...I pay, and a long wait starts. It took about 5 minutes before I got my slice. At this time, the thin crust was like a dry piece of tortilla with dead toppings. And there was zero taste. Bland. If you're serving pizza, then make sure that you don't let the customer wait for something that has already been prepared. Put it in the oven, take it out, and serve your customer. A don't forget the smile.

I stopped by for an early dinner (6-ish) and the pizzas all looked and tasted dried out. If the food were any better I would have felt like it was a great deal-- 2 slices and a coke for $6. Don't think I'd come back here unless I'm drunk and it's the only cheap eats open at 1:30am.

I've eaten here many times - I feel I must disclose the fact that it's always late at night but I keep going back! It's a pizza place - nothing fancy. Much better than other places nearby - the crust is thin and crispy, not at all doughy. The garlic knots are really good. It's nothing fancy - but that's the way a pizza place should be! I had pizza from a place in Little Italy that didn't compare to Ciro's - this is my go to place for a slice!

Ciro's lies somewhere between red Skittles and dinosaur fossils on The Scale of Awesomeness. You know it is freakin amazing when you wait in line longer to get a slice of pizza at 2:00 AM than you do to get into Sidebar at 10:00 PM. Not only that, there is a VIP area. Yea, a VIP area at a pizza joint. It's got a velvet rope and a security guy and you need to get in there before 1:30 AM or you'll never make it to the other side unless you just got off work. Don't think about using the bathroom past that time either -- they lock it to prevent you from evacuating your bladder and/or stomach fluids all over the floor in there. There have been nights I've eaten here three times over the course of the evening. Oh and the ATM doesn't work by the way, so don't listen to the parking attendant at the parking structure on 7th and Market who tells you this is the closest ATM. Yeah, it's the closest, but she never said it worked.

I used to love Ciros Pizza and frequented this place often because the pizza was good and the customer service was excellent. I was always greeted by friendly employees who went above and beyond to make sure my experience was memorable. I am sad to say that my experience tonight was completely the opposite. My boyfriend and I went in there for happy hour at 6:30 pm. I know they close up at 10pm and we were the only ones in the entire restaurant so there is no reason why the gentleman at the cash register was so busy that couldn't look up from counting his drawer for one second to greet us with a hello. Cardinal rule of customer service, greet your guests immediately. After we were told that happy hour is only on the weekdays, I showed them the website that says happy hour is "daily" - the special was not honored but we stayed anyway. I admit, staying was my mistake but I honestly thought that they would make it up to us in a different way since they have always had such fantastic service. They didn't. Furthermore, the pizza was completely mediocre. The pizza was soggy. The garlic knots were definitely not "garlicy" and the marinara sauce was under-seasoned. The ranch, however, was delicious as always. Overall, I'm really disappointed because the boyfriend just moved down the street and we love pizza. We definitely won't be coming back here again.

Walking around gaslamp district, the young man was suddenly overcome with hunger. Ciro's was just across the street so a slice was what we thought would do the trick. When we got inside, I noticed that this was super thin crust pizza and oh gawd, I really didn't want to eat anything since hubby and I wanted to go to this restaurant, but what the hell.... the 3 of us all got a slice. It cost $2.50 a slice and they warm it up for you. When it was ready, i took a bite and OMG... why don't WE get pizza like this in Orange County? So far, all the pizza joints we've been to in San Diego have come up pretty damn good and usually, by chance. The pizza was thin, the base crispy, the toppings.... enough for the slice, but not too much to bog it down and not too little that all you're tasting is the crust. The only reason why it didn't get the 5 stars is because the crust, though crispy, didn't have the chewiness which makes for the perfect pizza crust -- chewy and crispy at the same time. Still, it is a stellar 4 stars!! My 5 star rating for pizza in SD is Sicilian Thing. Ciro's and Mike's Giant Pizza comes a close second.

At first I thought the staff was rude but once I started talking, everything got good. We had pizza (pepperoni and ricotta), garlic knots and soda. Everything was delicious, love the crust especially. Best of all, they deliver, so this may be my pizza place while we're living here.

Usually everything tastes extraordinary when I'm shitfaced. Ciro's "New York Style" pizza........ did not. Pretty disappointing. I'm not trying to hate, but if you're gonna have a pizza spot in the Gas Lamp District open after the bars shut down, give the drunk people what they deserve!!!!! :)

All I know is that I stumbled into this place around 2 am, and for $28 I had a huge pizza that fed three dudes who know how to eat and three bottles of water to help those same dudes begin to recover from the hangover that was coming in about 6 hours. This place is A-OK in my book.

Being from the east coast, I can say that this is about as close to NY style pizza you can get in the area. SO good & I can't wait to come back for a whole pie. I stopped in on the taste of Gaslamp food tour & tried the margherita and cheese pizza. Both were delicious but I prefer the margherita.

Good thin crust pizza by the slice with a few good microbrew drafts on tap. Gotta love the $2 happy hour slices and $3 beers. Slices that cost LESS than a NYC subway ride are pretty rare these days.

Two slices and a beer - $7.50? Done deal. Pizza preferences are very personal. Some people like lots of meat, a hearty tomato sauce, thick crust, thin crust, lots of cheese, no cheese, etc, etc...to each their own right? My personal preference? A thin crust...chewy and tasty. Little to no tomato sauce. A good amount of tasty, melty cheese and I generally choose the veggie toppings. Ciro's pizza delivered on all those things! Their crust (while not the best I've ever had) is pretty darn good. Thin and crispy but with a chewy rim. No tomato sauce (at least on the ones I chose). Great selection of toppings (veggie and meat alike). I had the tomato, ricotta, spinach and the pesto and red onion. Yum-o! When I'm downtown for a game, I'll be sure to hit up Ciro's again!

I used to eat here quite a bit after one of my binges in the Gaslamp. That was at least a couple of years ago. Now since I don't really go downtown much anymore I don't know how the pizza is here right now. I like the thin NY style of crust. It tasted like standard pizza to me but the slices were large if I remember. I usually opted for two slices and on more than one occassion I was able to receive free pizza due to the over abundance of customers during the early morning hours. SCORE!!! I've never had this pizza when I was sober, but after inebriation it tastes pretty good. Try it if you're drunk!

Ciro's offers a great late night snack for a low low price. Hubby and I got 2 slices of thin crust pizza and a drink for $6. It's $7.50 if you get beer. He got the pepperoni and sausage cheese pizza and I got the straight up pepperoni,.. Delicious. Not too oily and the crust held very well... reminded me of pizza back in Brooklyn where you fold the pizza and it still stays crispy. :) And.. might I say... I LOVE THEIR MUSIC SELECTION!! Hubby told me that it's from "Lounge Against the Machine". Music also included various mixed versions of rap songs. *heart* better than some of the music I've heard at clubs. This place is definitely no frills. Grab whatever seat comes available and bus yourself. There was a good sized line (but not a long wait) ... so you know you're getting good stuff.

Its good, its close, some cheap deals. Not the most amazing thing as slice bread still eclipses this place but being like a block away from where I live I honestly can't complain. Especially when I'm too drunk to cook (sadly burning down my apartment and not remembering it would make me sad) and stumbling into random people and street fixtures just isn't my style, I can sacrifice. Not to mention my closer option is Wet Willies? Been there once, still want to kill the person that spoke volumes of it and made me go there with him because he has some kind of slushie fetish. Also Sushi Den but I spent the one visit I ever want to visit there. So yeah, I'll take decent pizza and more booze any day of the week.

  • Lori N.

Not the greatest New York style pizza you can find in San Diego, but Ciro's is open really late, making it a great spot to find some greasy food after a long night of drinking. At $2.75 a slice, it's not too shabby after a few drinks! Only problem is that it can get really crowded late at night, so if you're on the verge of passing out, chances are you'll be asleep before you take your first bite of pizza. Flavors are also limited the later it gets & after 10pm they only sell slices, so you can't order whole pizzas in a specific flavor. But the people are nice & the service is quick, so you can be assured that your midnight munchies will be satisfied here!

  • Shayan R.

They have OK pizza and have HORRIBLE service. They call themselves New York style pizza... maybe "style" as in thin, but wow if anyone has ever been to NY the average pizza there is much better. I was really put off when I asked for parmesan and pepper and the cashier ignored me. I saw some in the rear of the place and went to get some and was greeted with a rude "HEY YOU CAN'T BE BACK HERE" I said "I just want some parmesan and pepper, there is non elsewhere" "GET OUT!!!" I just don't understand... take it easy Ciro's

Three and half stars (as it is right now) is simply TOO generous. While visiting the Gaslamp district in SD for a convention taking place down the street, I had to find a quick bite to eat. We had an hour and after wasting a good half an hour looking for a decent place to grab some grub that wasn't going to rip a hole in my wallet, my friend and I settled on this place through literally judging it by its cover. "That sign is cute!" Anyway, so we go in and we are met with this long line, which provided good confidence. Scanning the menu, I settled on the stromboli. The pizza was laid out in their deli counter and simply didn't look great. The cheese looked like all the grease had soaked through it (you know that look of day old pizza?) and was really thin without anything on top. NY style pizza? I guess. If that's their interpretation of it. Stromboli is ordered. "It will take about 10-12 minutes". Fine. I'll just eat it while walking back to the convention. 15 minutes pass, and still no stromboli. I walk back to the counter/cashier front and just wait there, where I see the same guy who was aggressively rolling fresh flour into raw pizza dough half a minute ago handling cash. I waited for him to finish counting his coins and grabbing small bills out of the tip jar to give cash back to a customer for him to wash his hands. Did he? Nope. The only redeeming part of this story is that I finally got my stromboli. I started scarfing down on it chunk by chunk only to realize that what I thought was really chewy and a hefty amount of cheese was raw pizza dough. Yup. Straight up raw pizza dough by the mouthful. By this time I was a few blocks down heading towards the convention center. Mind you, the only part that was cooked was the outside. You would think that after 20 minutes of delay, it would be done. But actually that was probably because they didn't put it into the oven until 10 minutes INTO them telling me it would only be 10 minutes. Long story short, I would avoid this place like the plague.

My boyfriend and I love coming here. Outside of great pizza and awesome garlic knots the staff treats you like family. Nothing better than asking for a beer recommendation and getting something even better than you expected. Anthony and Eddie recommended the Mother Earth and it was incredible. This place is perfect for grabbing a drink and a slice with friends while watching the game boom

Some of the best wings i have ever had. The pizza is really great too, very NY style. The cooks are kinda cold to customers and the seating can be limited/cramped when things liven up. But there are plenty of TVs to watch sports, and the prices arent bad.

Boyfriend and I were visiting San Diego just for the day and brought our little pup around with us. So we were looking for a place with some good food and outdoor seating. There were only 2 tables outside, but it wasn't too busy when we went. They also had a special that day: 2 thin crust slices and a beer for $8. In total we got 4 slices and 2 beers for $16 even. Definitely felt like it was a very good deal and the pizzas were pretty good. Not exactly amazing, but for what we were looking for, it was really enjoyable. It wasn't right in the middle of the action in Gaslamp, but very close by. It was perfect since we had the dog with us. If you're going to a Padres game later that day, I'd say Ciro's would be a great pit stop for a good bite to eat and a beer.

This place has the BEST pizza crust ever for us thin crust lovers. It had just a bit of chewiness but was audibly crunchy! My husband and I were looking for an inexpensive yet good food place in the midst of a week of expensive tourist dining in San Diego. We happened onto Ciro's and were VERY pleased! We were there on a Padres game night special of 2 pieces of pizza and a beer for $9. What a deal! Especially because of the variety of delicious pizzas available and a small but unique grouping of craft beers. Whenever we come to San Diego, we will come to Ciro's!

I'm kind of surprised... the pizza here is pretty darn good! They must have improved drastically since the last time I stumbed around in Gaslamp. S and I stopped by for a slice of ricotta and mushroom. We're both fans of thin crust and she approved. The crust was light and crunchy. The toppings were fresh. Still, in my heart of hearts, I can't like this place more than Luigi's, but I would come back for more.

  • Mike C.

It's an Ok pizza because you are already drunk and cant tell the difference if its been freshly made or sitting out in the display warmer. I still like it because it is open late at night and it does soak up the alcohol. After all, you don't want to risk the DUI. Lines can be long depending on what time of the evening you get your slice and usually you'll get the freshest slice during this time. But if you are just semi-drunk, you can definitely taste the dryness from a slice that had been sitting out for awhile. Of couse I'll come back, I havent had any stomach complications yet and I love to drink so this is usually a good spot to go at the end of your shenanigans.

You've just partied your chonies off and you need food stat.....what can I say? Ciro's gives you good pizza and garlic knots (or sticks if you're not into that sorta thing) at a pretty decent price. Is it the BEST pizza in SD? No....but really? You're gonna be THAT picky when you're drunk as a skunk and need food in your alcohol filled belly? Doubtful. Drink up, dance til your feet hurt and stumble over to Ciro's pizza. Nuff said.

  • Nino R.

After a couple of visits, I'm fairly comfortable with this rating. This review is going to be fairly short and highly pretentious. Better to eat it when you're drunk, that way you won't have to remember the taste and how long you had to wait in line. Furthermore, I just came back from a trip to NY/NJ where I hit up 11 pizzerias in 4 days. This definitely ain't like back home. No way. Not ever. Seahorses. Forever...

  • Mike N.

Perfect after bar food stop. The line moves pretty quick. You get a nice mix of people, sometimes coherently drunk people depending on when you stop in. It's a good thin crust pizza with just enough sauce and crust crunch. And they usually have at least 5 different pizzas pre-sliced so you get variety.

My wife and I stayed in San Diego a month or so ago and we were walking through the Gaslamp and just stopped in Ciro's for lunch. We had not read any reviews, no idea what the pizza was going to be like, but because I HAVE to try every pizza place that says "New York Style Pizza" we decided to give it a try. I understand what the other yelpers are saying about the customer service, they are not rude, but could be a little more friendly, regardless we ordered a whole cheese because I always prefer a fresh pizza rather than reheated slices. When the pizza came out, it smelled and looked really good, that I could tell that it was just going to be one of the best pizzas I had ever had. I have been to New York and had New York pizza and ever since then I have been looking for the closest thing to it that I could find in CA. I have been to many many many new york style pizza places (probably over 50 places), and 99% of them just suck. The closest place I have found to actual new york style pizza was the pizza place in the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas (that place is awesome!). This is all until we ate at Ciro's... I believe that this pizza was simply the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD! EVEN BETTER THAN NEW YORK PIZZA IN NEW YORK! The crust was simply perfect, thin, not soggy, but not crispy, the sauce was not overdone, and the cheese tasted amazing, it was not to greasy but not dry either. Everything was just perfect! Thank you Ciro's for making the perfect pizza! I would be eating there every day if I lived closer, but for sure every time I come to San Diego, I will stop by for some pizza! Now I'm hungry for a slice =/

Don't let stupid ppl run your cash register! I walked in, got in line and began my long wait. The lady in front of me got her pizza and just as it was finally my turn, this guys walks right in and gets service right in front of me. I asked out loud, "Are you serious?" the cashier didn't even look my way. I turned to my boyfriend and repeated my question. We couldn't believe they would skip us. On top of that, the guy got his order really fast and we were still waiting. We walked out annoyed that they would not allow us to order or even acknowledge we were there. Definitely never getting my business!

The pizza is only okay compared to other NY style places in San Diego, Pizzeria Luigi's in either location is definitely better, but it's alright. The service here, though, is terrible. The OB location is much better on that. The customer service is so bad; I was the only person waiting to give my order and it took at least 5 minutes for anyone to attend me, and when someone did, they had a bad attitude about it. As someone who works in customer service, it bothers me a lot when I go to a place where the service is shitty. Overall not worth it; I should have taken those five minutes of waiting and gone over to Luigi's in Golden Hill instead, lesson learned!

Isn't it always convenient how there is a pizza shop next to a night club. You've been boozing, you leave late and well you always tend to be hungry. My girlfriends and I left the club with somewhat of an appetite. We hopped in line and scoped out the glass case of pizza pies! It finally came time to put in our order, we each got a slice of the margarita pizza, one garlic knot, a bag of cheetos for friggin $8. In NYC one slice would have been $8!! And the slice was huge, it was definaley a slice that could have been cut in half and been for two people. But I sat there and at that thing and finished it off like a champ! Great pizza, good and quick service at a great price!!

It was the most complicated mess I have ever seen! They have 5 bouncers now. One guarding the bathroom, one guarding the register, one guarding the door, one standing outside the gate. I was denied entrance to the bathroom they now have roped off while my friends were waiting in line. After having snuck past with another friend I found three girls puking their stomachs out. Then the security bouncer comes after me and knocks on the door. There was no line. After having received my pizza and ate my girlfriend comes up to me telling me they won't let her in to order her piece. They gave no specific reason. I was allowed so I got up and went and got it for her... Four feet inside the establishment! After a few minutes and her pizza in hand one of the security guards/bouncers or what ever they were came out and yelled, "Yo! That girl is dumb!" And pointed at me. I loved eating here, but it's gotten too complicated and exclusive, and has lost it's wholesome feel. Us three girls got into our Jeep and took off.

I don't like chain pizzarias so I only go to the mom & pop pizza restaurants. If you only need a slice there are premade pizzas up front or if you have a group just sit down and order what you need. We each got a slice of the premade pizzas and some bread sticks. The pizza was good and it was priced right under $20 for all three of us.

Had it delivered to our hotel and it was fast, hot, and the people were friendly. I have to say that the wings were some of the worst I've ever had.. Tiny for the price I paid and not at all hot. The rest of the food was great (calzone, philly, & salad).

  • Krupa R.

"Meh, I've experienced better" hits the nail on the head for this place. I was playing tourist in the Gas Lamp area and had a hankering for something Italian - I could either walk a mile to Little Italy or eat at Ciro's and I kind of wish I'd kept walking. Pizza was nothing special - not great, but still eatable. Garlic knots were okay, but the marinara on the side was way too sweet. Yuck. Ample seating, friendly service, just wish the food had been better.

  • Katie T.

Where do I start? The under-age girl vomiting at the back table? The girls smoking pot on the porch? Or the over-worked cashier who looked like all he wanted to do was go home? While the atmosphere was definitely not my favorite, the calzone was frigging delicious. It was also the size of a large pizza and I recommend sharing. Prices were also reasonable for the size that you were getting. Generally, I could have done without the riff-raff and thus my experience was not good, however, would I get them to deliver if I lived nearby? Probably... If I could get the thought of the 16 year old in the back vomiting on the table out of my mind.

Pizza's good, but customer service is terrible!!! Whoever was taking my order over the phone had zero personality and then called me back to state my card was declined....as it turned out, he had entered the wrong cc#, but was rather rude about it. Anyway, not sure the pizza is worth the hassle.

Fail. No. Epic Fail. Imagine what you thought would be your long-term (in the Gaslamp, NY style) pizza relationship being thwarted by awful food and service with an attitude even worse than the meal. If you could call it a meal. . . We went in here and ordered pasta. Mistake #1. The boyfriend specifically asked if the lasagna was frozen. The guy working the counter says they make it there. Okay, that was not the question. Yes, you make it there, but do you freeze it? He just says that it takes awhile...15-20 minutes, tops. Ok. Fine. 25 minutes later, my penne comes out. Boyfriend's lasagna nowhere to be found. I sit and wait. He insists I eat. The penne was, well, I wouldn't feed it to my dog. If I had a dog. We check on the lasagna, 35 minutes later, and they're annoyed with us. Uh ok. So it finally comes, the bf cuts into it, and while it's steaming, it looks like slop you'd find in a trough. No, really. And it was frozen inside. So he asks for his money back for the lasagna, and again, the guy working the counter is annoyed with him. I've always known that Ciro's gets by because it's in a really good location in the Gaslamp that appeals to drunken hunger. It's open late, and it's these overall advantages that allow them to get away with their /insert explicitive service and behavior-one thing you CAN always count on at Ciros. I'll find somewhere else to get a quick NY Pizza fix. Two thumbs down.

Unbelievably rude staff!!! Never ever going back to this rip off place that treats their customers like idiots *including* the manager. Extremely unprofessional! Worst way to run a business I've ever seen.

Thumbs down for having no plain pepperoni available during the lunch rush last Monday. Also, I wish that what they had were a little fresher; at 12:30, you expect them to have a steady supply of new product. However, the pizza was pretty darn good, and you can't beat a lunch deal with two slices and a soda for six bucks. They have plenty of different combinations, but I prefer to stick with the basics. They also sell stromboli, which you don't see in the Midwest (good luck even finding a decent calzone).

I have been to this location several times late night on Friday/ Saturday . The place is packed with people. The wait is long but their pizza slices are fresh and delicious. If you like NY style pizza then you should definitely try this place. I would rank their pizza with Bronx.

There's a sign outside the door: "Slice of Pizza and 1 Beer for $7" SOLD! To the cheap alcoholic with a pizza craving! I was delighted when I saw there was Stella Artois on tap. I don't even live downtown, but I actually get in the car and drive all the way here just because everything they make is so good. We usually get the slices and a stromboli, plus some of the garlic knots. I know that's a lot of dough...but the dough is so GOOD. I think my favorite kind of slice to get is the pepperoni jalapeño. Gosh, it's good! Prices are great. It's sort of a pain to park the car but usually I go to Horton Plaza which is just a couple blocks away. Added bonus: ever since Bang Bang opened up next door, even better people watching than before. (Not that it wasn't good to begin with). If you sit at the window seats inside the front door, they can't even hear you making fun out their outfits/plastic surgery faces.

Ciros is really good. When we used to live downtown, we would get pizza from here fairly regularly. They deliver if you live in the downtown area, which is really convenient. Much better then any other pizza we ever had in the Gaslamp. Since they've remodeled, the interior is much nicer and more spacious. The pizza crust is perfect, nice and thin but not TOO thin where it's falling apart. I don't think we've ever gotten bad pizza from Ciros, it's always great. Ciros is also great for late night grub after going out downtown, if you have the patience for the loooong line at 2:15AM (it's always worth it!). Awesome pizza for San Diego!

I only find myself at Ciro's post-night out on the town, usually between the hours 1am and 3am. In the hours before I end up here, I'm on a mission, sashaying about the gaslamp with some girlfriends, decked out in my sexiest Herve Leger look-alike dress and tranny heels, on the prowl for Mr. Right (okay, Mr. Right Now). After a long night of drinking, my feet begin to hurt, eligible bachelors begin to get sloppy, and all my body wants is a little greasy goodness to soak up the alchohol and allow me to regain enough strength to stumble back to my hotel room, while simultaneously fending off the droves sleezy guys hitting on me. "No, I will NOT be going home with you, I will be going home with Ciro tonight..." The mission now becomes: find pizza and bring back to hotel without tripping over my tranny heels. Just like a drunken hook up after one too many vodka sodas, Ciro's gets the job done, but it's not very memorable (well, you don't really want to remeber it anyways). Is Ciro's Pizza better than sex? No... but I'd much rather wake up to the evidence of the few slices of Ciro's pepperoni pizza eaten in bed than do the walk of shame through the gaslamp with a broken heel and mascara running down my face. So much more satisfying...

They've renovated and enlarged this place since I was last here, a year ago. The pizza's not great, but it's not bad either. Cheese is good, sauce is pretty good, and crust is just a little better than okay. Yes, it's thin, which is a must for good pizza (in my humble opinion), but something about it is not quite right. Perhaps it's the elasticity or sometimes sponginess of it, or maybe it's the extra-wide margins near the edge of the pizza circle. Not bad pizza, but I enjoyed my slice better at Bronx Pizza in Hillcrest. Garlic Knot ($1), was too doughy, not garlicky enough. Perhaps a little more oil/spice and 3 more minutes in the oven...

  • Jaime M.

Perhaps it's because they serve drunk food to drunk people, but every experience I've had here is a lesson on how not to provide service. Everyone who works here acts as if every customer is a burden. Its almost as if they try to be rude and disassociated. I live and work within 3 blocks of this establishment and I have never had a positive experience. The pizza is a C at best. Most of the time they serve their slices under-cooked--even at lunch, when they're not busy. Service? D- is generous. If they operated in any other location, not supported by drunk tourists, this place would have gone out of business long ago. Shame, as it could be great if they actually tried to be a true business. But apparently they are successful and profitable by providing little to no effort. I give up.

Ordered a Roni Boli (pepperoni stromboli), some garlic knots and a spinach salad. The boli was yummy, and huge--so big that I actually laughed when I opened the box. It's like a whole pizza dough wrapped around ingredients. The knots are bigger than the ones I'm used to at other restaurants, too. The salad didn't seem to have as much love put into it, but the ingredients were fresh and ample. I think the price was reasonable and the delivery came on time and I think everything tasted good. That's really about all anyone can ask for, right? I only took one star away because they had run out of some of the ingredients for the first things I tried to order. Otherwise I would've given them five.

Been coming here for a long time now. Don't have a single negative thing to say about this Ciro's location. Food is great, staff is super nice. Food is great.. Two slices of pizza and a fountain drink: $6 Two slices of pizza and a beer: $7.50 The TV's are set to ESPN. Glad the "Adventure Time" theme was only during Comic-Con.

Driving by this place a few times i wondered how this empty place mamage to stay in business. i mean there were so many better pizza parlors not too far away. later that night... i was beyond drunk. and someone i made it here by foot. this place was freakin' crowded! and not in a bad way either. i mean the line just kept moving, leaving virtually no wait. the selection for 3-4am pizza was pretty damn good. and fresh at that (I think so) prices we pretty great too.. i think i recall 2.50 - 3.50 a slice now i know some places offer slices for less.. but really... this is pretty good. service was friendly. the people there wereall from the late night crowd (so expect to see some 'mtv like' drama! i know i did. but it didn't bother me... i was happy holding onto to my slice of pizza pie! and my balance.

This pizza is so good! I can kill 3 slices in one setting. I also like the policy of having your photo taken with the Ciro's guy in an exotic place and if you bring the photo back they will hang it up on the wall and give you a free pie! I've done it twice now.

Bait and Switch!!!! Saw that they had a special. Two slices and a beer for $8. Ordered my slices and asked for a local brew on tap. The guy behind the counter says Coors Light only. Why doesn't the sign say "2 slices and a Coors Light?" So ended paying over $10 for two small slices and a beer. BAIT & SWITCH!!!!

Decent pizza if you are in downtown and want a quick bite to eat. The thin crust was tasty but not as thin as I would prefer. I think they piled too much cheese for my taste. They have all the typical pizza combinations you would find in any pizza shop. Nothing unique about this place. The service I found was not very friendly. The guy who took my order made me feel like I was troubling him by ordering a slice of pizza like he had better things to do. Overall, for the convenience of location I give it 2 stars but I rather go to Pizza Luigi for my thin crust. The lack of friendly service really killed this place for me. And one more thing, the logo really creeps me out. It looks like the result of the twisted imagination of a 5 year old.

Good pizza, hits the spot after some drinks late at night or ideal for lunch. The barbecue chicken is tasty. Atmosphere is decent for a quick bite.

Nothing memorable about the pizza, would take gaslamp Pizza over Ciro's any night of the week... and if given the chance, I'd head over to Basic. Its central location is handy if you're out and about and just need a slice, but that's where the honeymoon ends... if you're living downtown and thinking delivery, and want to avoid the chains... avoid this place too.

New Yorkers LOVE to go on and on about their pizza and how great it is to non-natives. When I first moved to NY, I totally didn't get why they thought their pizza was so great and I thought the traditional Little Caesars I got back home was better. HAH, was I wrong! After living in NY for less than a year, I discovered a pizza place in Yonkers (just north of the bronx) that was so incredible, so totally like nothing I'd ever imagined as pizza. Incredibly tasty, toothsome mozzarella, just a light dusting of sauce, and thin floppy crust. It was amazing. For the next several years I had lots of other amazing pizza while in NY and became a snob just like everyone else (well, not as bad as some people). What the hell am I going on about? Ciro's pizza was totally fine, and better than a lot of supposedly "NY pizza" joints, but it's not that roll-your-eyes-to-the-back-of-your-head good. Therefore I could not give it a higher review. But if in need, I would go back. My bf, who IS the biggest NY pizza snob ever, didn't think it was good at all. But I think he just misses home.

Not too impressed, it may have been a bad day, but pizza was old, and the tomato sauce tasted of a campbells soup variety. if the mall sabarro is making better pizza, you cant be doing something right.

Decent pizza - NY style thin and it could not get much thinner! But it's good. Not great, but good. I usually order takeout and unless I want a quick slice I see no reason to eat at the place - small and not great atmosphere. I have not had better in Gaslamp area - if you have PLEASE let me know.

I just found out that the person I planned to eat dinner with was waylaid in Utah due to a snow storm at what was 11pm (internal time) 9pm CA time. I scuttled out to find a quick dinner that would put my hungry belly to sleep. Ciro's was right around the corner. I ordered a single slice, pepperoni and a drink. Slice was standard NY style, big floppy slices with grease drips. I obviously haven't run the gamet with these guys, but I was happy for the $4 dinner. A-OK in my book.

What is it with people that work downtown and hating their jobs? Bad service, bad food, bad everything. The workers don't clean, take your order, refill the ice in the fountain drinks machine or really give a damn about anything. Better pizza options a few blocks in all directions from this place.

Free gawd-damn pizza?! F YEAH! Cartoon Network pulled off one of the best promotions I have ever seen in my life ever for ever that has ever happened! During Comic-Con 2010, Preview Night/Day up until the last day (Sunday), from 2-4 PM, with a flyer, you could get a free slice of pizza and a soda, with a cold-color changing cup. The exterior was decked out with the signature Cartoon Network Black & White colors. The interior was fully adorned with pictures, decals, and wallpaper featuring Cartoon Network characters, and the furniture matched to boot. The pizza is that thin-crust New York style pizza, and after failing the Broken Yolk 12 Egg Omelet Challenge, a thin crust satiated my appetite for thin bread, tomato sauce, cheese, and PEPPERONI. The service, on the other hand, the fatter sloppy dude working the cash register was a complete effing moron. I gave him my flyer and he asked what I wanted. I got my pepperoni slice and he demanded the flyer that he already took from me. He was totally rude about it too. I hope he reads this, or his manager. This was on the first day of the promotion (Wednesday) at around 3 O'Clock (7/21/2010). It was the guy actually handling the cash register. If the guy reading this is the guy, and won't get himself in trouble....F YOU. You could have made me a regular, thanks in most part to Cartoon Network. I would be praising your great tasting pizza, but I would rather eat a crappy tasting pizza somewhere else with polite cashiers. I would have had no problem returning with money in hand to pay for another slice of your pizza on any other day for any of my return trips, but you had to be a total effing moron. 5 Stars for the Pizza. 1 star for the idiot cashier.

Please let me start out by saying that I am from Chicago, and I am not a fan of New York style pizza, but Ciro's is really a great place to get a couple of slices and a beer at lunch for about $7.50. Service is good, no BS, just straight NY style talk, and you won't wait long for your hot slices and cold beer. There are some regulars that swear that Ciro's slices taste just as good cold and you don't have to wait 5 minutes, but hey, to each his own! Ciro's is a must, when you are in the need of a quick slice and a beer!

Opened Late! Was our only option for heavy food in between bar/club hopping...Pizza was fairly priced, was a large place with other fellow bar hoppers like ourselves...Red Ferrari was parked across the street, that is one of the few things that keep my eyes off drunk club chicks!

We ordered a cheese pizza along with an order of chicken fingers and fries. The delivery was great (very timely - I think under 30 minutes). The chicken and the fries were tasty (waffle fries with garlic/sweet seasoning). The pizza was ok, not bad but not great. Not sure I'd rush back to get the pizza as it was very basic and simple (might have been a bit underwhelming because we only had cheese as a topping). Very thin crust, but not crispy which was nice. Not bad for a quick staple (or a late night bit). Price was reasonable for what we received (however, we didn't keep the leftover pizza as it was soggy the next day).

7-Eleven Pizza with Kmart-Quality Service I know this seems like the only place open for a quick eat when you're stumbling home from the bars, but this place isn't worth it. Once you get through the long line, forget about choosing your favorite slice: you'll get whatever they have left over. The workers are the worst part about this place. The "manager", a Mexican version of Bud Bundy, is a complete idiot and somehow can screw up a pizza order and then blame it on the customers. If you complain they have a "Pizza Bouncer", another douche who wears a black shirt and loiters around the place preying on girls who are too drunk to stand up, who will try to get involved in the transaction.

Do: - Try the Ciro's special - great. - Try the White Mushroom - insane. Don't: - Do delivery. They're directionally challenged.

Alright guys! I usually like to grab a quick slice from you but I went with the philly cheese steak sandwich. I took my order to go ..... ummm, your forgot an important ingredient in a CHEESE steak. The CHEESE! Other than that I was fully loaded with meat and filling. But that cheese would have made it oh so much better! I hope this isn't how you usually serve the CHEESE steak...

Coming from a huge late night pizza fan I regretfully report that Ciros is sub par not only in cuisine but also in service. Fortunately most patrons at Ciros are under the influence and therefore mionorly startled by the cardboard pizza crust appeal. Aside from the low quality food offerings the management is a piece of work. A small/short gentlemen (looking for a testosterone boost) managed to pull me off of the seat I took in the window without warning. (no mind my 6 inch heels). Granted it was more of a counter but between all the other 1 am drunkards, it was the only place to sit. It wasn't as if I was unwilling to relinquish my window seat to the next drunken human but the way the management handled it with no concern for my moderately weak ankles. Unimpressed.

Horrible service..average pizza.. Took about 3 minutes for any employee even to acknowledge me. It wasn't even busy! It was like 3:00 on a Tuesday. Looked over the pizza they had on display and evertyhing looked like it had been there a week. Disgusting. they had a special- 2 slices and beer for $7.00 so I figured how bad could it be. Preatty bad but the thing that sucked was the lack of customer service or should I say "concern about customers" from staff.

Some friends ordered from here the other night, and since I kicked in some cash, I snagged a slice. Even though I wasn't that hungry. Pretty decent. Thin-crust style, as opposed to that weird puffy-doughy-ness that comes from the chain pizza places. Still not on-par with Bronx, but nothing will be (in my eyes). At least I didn't cringe while eating this. I actually enjoyed it. Delivery was also pretty quick. Not 100% love, but no major complaints.

I really love the pizza here. If this were a pizza taste review only, I'd give Ciros 4 stars. Unfortunately, the negatives of this place sometimes outweigh the good. Don't expect to see short lines late night, especially after bars let out, Ciros is a main spot for people to grab some grub. Watch out because it tends to become jerk central after certain times and the servers there definitely wear that fact on their faces and attitudes. That said, if you can get in, avoid the minefield douchbaggery, and order your grub, the pizza is delectable. I've quite literally, gone in to get pizza to take home, gotten 2 slices, walked home (only a few blocks away), found out that I had eaten it all, ran back to Ciros and gotten more slices.

They deliver til 2am! Let me repeat that...TWO AM!!! What's not to love? I stopped by here twice in a three day period while staying nearby. Once to grab a salad...decent. And the other for a slice of pie...unfortunately, they were closed as I stopped by at a few after 2. Sigh. My bad. next time I feel the need to get wasted in San Diego, i'll be sure to call ahead and order my pizza so it gets delivered!

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! I used to eat here all time. Then came the incredible amount of flies. I told the people working there and I sent them a direct message on Facebook but it was never returned and the employees i spoke with on that day months ago just shrugged it off. I hadn't been back for a while because of this until today. I like the lunch special of 2 slices and a drink for $6. The pizza is good here. When i went to order @ the counter the employee just said, "yeah?". I was surprised he was talking to me but i guess that's how they do it in NY. I went to order the the slices i wanted and pointed at them because there are no signs labeling them. And because i don't work there i don't know the names. The employee picked up the wrong one and i immediately told him. He turns and tells me, "That's why i told you tell me which one you wanted. I can't see which one you pointed at." All he had to do was ask me. This place has really gone downhill. I will be taking my business to City Pizzeria (7th and B) from now on where they appreciate my business.

i like ciro's. when the wife and i lived in downtown, theres no way we got any of those "other" guys to deliver to our apt. Ciro's pies were always on our radar first. the GRUB: - NYC thin crust - i like it thin - chicken parmesian pies with fired pieces of chicken, cheese and sauce was delish - spicy buffalo chicken was good - i added pineapples - made it better - classic pepperoni was off the hook the JOINT: - was a decent joint when it was a hole in the wall, better now since they upgraded to a larger space - seating - open late night - downtown gem on 6th the SQUEEZE: - $6 for 2 slices and a coke - Delivery in downtown and surrounding - Cash and Card FINAL SAY: downtown nyc style pizza that is as good as it gets.

This is as close NY style pizza as it gets here. I feel like would know- I lived outside of NYC & 30 seconds from NY for 22 years. I'm sure there are those that would argue with me, but that's their opinion. People who have lived in NYC/NY and come here have said that the pizza is outstanding. You be the judge. But the name isn't important. They could call it pizza from Sasquatch's ass and I would still eat it. I digress. This pizza is fantastic. Every single time I go downtown I eat here. The toppings are fresh and tasty, the dough is a bit on the thin side-but the sauce, cheese and fresh taste of the dough is what makes it wonderful. The best pizza in San Diego, since in my opinion anyone West of the Mississippi sucks at making pizza. I don't anywhere in CA ever for pizza, just Ciro's. I recommend this place for anyone who's never been to NY & had real NY style pizza.

whenever I have to work in Downtown, I try to give myself a chance to grab a slice before i head home. Personally, I think it is good. many people say that the service is bad but the pizza is what the people should pay attention to. Lets just ignore the service for a second and remind ourselves is this pizza worth it? Just think about the "soup guy" in the TV show Sienfeld quoting "no soup for you!" the service might suck but the food is exceptionally good. just think about it people working in downtown san diego has to deal with the worst customers. especially when everyone is Stupid drunk. thus i believe this is why the employees are acting rudely because they deal with it everyday. and customers nowadays have no appreciation for workers.

  • Nate G.

$6 for 2 slices and a coke- not bad for downtown! The pizza is edible and definitely better than gaslamp pizza, but that's not really saying much! It's decent, I guess that's all you can say. The wait on a Friday night/ Saturday morning around 2 am sucks though- it took me about 25 minutes to get a slice. +1 for the people watching after last call in the gaslamp.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
